  • Wiring of led bar located on roof rack

    hi there,

I am considering to install an led bar at the front of my full length roof rack, and was wondering how to wire it from there...

Has anyone already done it, and can share his/her experience ?

    Cheers.

By how to wire it I presume you mean how to run the wires to the roof and that you don't need a wiring diagram.

Not for a light bar but have a look here to see how I ran wires to the roof http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post460952

    Cheers Andrew

      Assuming you are talking 150?

Try searching for a post from Derek from ABR Sidewinder. I copied his method of removing a rear brake light to bring the cable from the chassis, along the seam of the door opening. Secure the cable with double sided tape. Then you can squeeze the cable under the rubber roof mouldings that hide the roof rack securing bolts.

Across the engine bay in split tubing

Then up the side of the windscreen tucked under the overhang, heat shrink over it to neaten it up and make it blend in

Same with the roof, tucked under the lip on the rubber in the roof channel then up the roofrack leg

Connect it to the bar with good quality butt connectors, preferably the waterproof ones and invest in a good quality crimping tool, not the cheap $5 ones
Heat shrink over the connectors, get the one thats glue lined not the standard stuff, then larger heatshrink over the whole lot.
25amp single core cable fits perfect and isn't loose. Twin core flat might fit also but I like two runs of single core with heat shrink running up the windscreen, the slightly rougher texture holds it in nicely, mines never popped out.
The finished product, nice and tidy

The road less travelled is definitely the best road to be on

            thanks guys.
            really helpful !
I will invest in a nice LED bar and set it up.
Saw some good ones on Sunyee ebay shop, and price does not seem stupid.
            Cheers.
