Any issues thus far with the under bonnet installs??

considering all the other plastics in the engine bay im sure it will be fine...unless you plan to mount it right next to the exhaust manifold or something.....2013 (12 build) GX Auto.......with safari snorkel, toyota bar, tow bar, roof racks, led spots with fancy newpro switchgear, uniden remote UHF and aerial, ARB bash plates, Roadsafe recovery points, digoptions radio, general grabber AT2s, cheap ebay roof rack that has stood up surprisingly well.....

Hi Guys, new to forum so be kind!!!
Bought a Thumper a few months ago with the idea of under bonnet fitment, yes it can be done you just need to do a few mods to the compressor and fabricate a mounting bracket.
With the compressor you need to remove all the stuff you don't really need, sand tray, handle and brackets, rear cover that contains relay ect as this can be mounted anywhere. You will need to remove (cut) the plastic rear housing that contains the electrics and make a flat cover plate to replace it held on by the existing screws.
Mine is mounted between the firewall and Std fuel filter passengers side (07 D4D 6 Speed...might help?) used existing mounting points, just had to relocate wiring harness.
If this is of interest let me know, and once I figure out how to post photos I will do my best to help!
Cheers,

Even though the fins are silver coloured, they are actually plastic, or at least are on the version I bought my son.Spilsy

With this one, or an ARB, is there any point in putting the switch inside on the dash, apart from protection from the elements?
It seems to me it would be more ergonomic to have it beside the compressor so you don't have to go back inside the vehicle after you connect the air hose, and when you've finished.
It would also simplify the installation.
