  • ARB OME BP-51 shock absorber feedback and information

Has anyone installed ARB Old Man Emu BP-51 shock absorber on their car and can share first hand experience, their opinion, and information about it?

I believe ARB has been installing on Toyota Hilux and other vehicle models for some months now.

ARB told me they are about to release for the Toyota Prado very soon but I got little information about the product and no release date.

Not released yet as you've stated., so unless there's some members on here who've fitted them up to their 200 or Lux, we'll have to wait and see... Any ideas on pricing on the Hilux Kit?

Pretty pricey, $550 for a shock and $845 for the front shock/coil over assembly (plus vehicle specific fitting parts) according to the press release. They look good though!!

This is there response to me about them.

Thank you for your inquiry about the new old man emu BP-51 shock absorbers. Unfortunately at this stage old man emu have only released the BP-51 for a select few of the newer vehicles and have no release information about doing them for the older models. But in saying that keep a eye on http://www.arb.com.au/ for any future releases.

I have a 90 series, I saw them at the caravan show and liked what I saw as I need to change the original equipment.

              Benefits

What would be the benefits of Old Man Emu BP-51 vs. current OME offering for a Prado? Vs. King offering?

If your talking King Offroad Racing Socks, OME aren't even in the same league. The shocks that would go head to head with King are Icon and Fox Racing.

That is how they are marketed, and they sure look the goods. If only I had known about these a bit earlier I would have probably waited for these. For the price they should be damn good, looking at $3K parts only for the full kit when it is released for 150 prado, that is according to ARB at the show at manly boat harbour last weekend.

mmmm. A new product, with minimal real world feedback, marketed and priced as premium from a company that hasn't previously produced high end shocks, versus proven, quality products. I know where I'd be spending my money.

                          BP-51 by OME

                          G'day all
Was poking around the local ARB store today and speaking to the sales rep the new OME BP-51 shocks are about to be released for the 150 series.
A fully installed setup will cost about the $4200 mark (compared to the nitro sports at the approx. $2000 mark).
Anyone seen these in action? The theory is there on why they should be better but whether that translates to real world application.

Apologies about the double post- missed the first thread!

I see ARB officially released BP-51 shocks now for the Prado 150 and FJ cruiser. If i had a spare several hundred $$$ wouldnt mind trying them.

Thread title needs a slight correction, I thought it was a discussion about factory shocks :-)
