  • replacing the actuator

hi i have a 150 series prado, and it got stuck in low range and the diff was locked, i took it to my local mechanic and he informed me that i needed a new actuator and it will cost lots of $$ because the transfer had to come out to replace it, so i took it home and managed to find a second hand actuator from the wreckers and they told the transfer case didnt have to come out, you just undo the three bolts and it comes straight off, so ive gone home tried to take mine off and it wouldnt come, seemed to be getting stuck on one of the shafts, so seems ive now got a spare one that cant be returned anyway ive carefully busted the old one off just leaving the 2 shafts sticking out, i worked out if they are both pushed in,its out of 4wd and the diff is not locked.
so ive bolted the new one back on (went on quite easily) plugged it all back in and it was no different doesnt seem to be working at all.

has anyone ever had this problem or can give me any ideas of what try next thanks

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a bit? I seem to recall someone on here having a similar issue and that's all it took to fix it, not 100% sure though.
