I believe that this thread was never meant to be a "petrol vs diesel" kind of discussion.....they are both Toyota and both prado....each has its own pros and cons....each of us has our own preferences and reasons why we bought our Prado.....so please guys, i hope its not too much to ask to stick with the topic which is "Performance chip for petrol"...

It's not a 'petrol -v- diesel' discussion, just a bit of banter. Read some of the other threads to see what discussions can take place!

Getting back to your point, if you can find a chip for the petrol, there will be a few here who would be interested in obtaining one, including me.

I would take a petrol V6 over the puny D4D any day and this is coming from someone who owns the D4D and have driven the V6.
Smoother, quieter, more powerful and easier to maintain (More reliable by far AFAIK).
Only drawbacks is fuel consumption and low end torque which arent really that important IMO. The 1KD-FTV is a really old and unrefined engine.

I dont know why I'm following this thread, I have the diesel. But I'm still curious to know the answer, hopefully in the near future my curiosity will be satisfied when an answer makes its way through all the petrol vs diesel banter....

Man - No Doubt, I'd be all over it if there was a reliable performance boosting chip out there for the V6 Prado - Matched with a set of Extractors and 2.75" exhaust from Beaudesert and you have a pretty wild ride.

Surely there is someone out there that has had a tinker with them.
We have some pretty good dyno tuners in Australia that can get some impressive numbers off stock Chev motors!

I think the reason why people don't dyno tune them that often is the Toyota computer isn't that easy to break into and modify the mapping. By volume there really isn't that much call for it either (not like turbo 6 Falcons and v8 Commodores anyway).

KAKADAZ Chipped his V6 a few years ago, I don't think it improved the performance to any worthwhile extent though http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post354435

If I knew anything about PCM programming, I'd nearly take you up on that!
