Yep sure do.
Can't see how a small logic change in the ecu would cost that much.
But in regards to killing myself or someone else, I have changed the DTRL not removed them.
So due to your grave concern I have removed the drawing and pics.
Thanks for the heads up.
Hey Maddi, why delete it all, don't be a bad sport man. Haters are going to hate. I like the fact you don't like the light on and have gone and found an intelligent and SAFE way of fixing it. With the LED's in the spots on and the park lights on I personally don't think you are any less visible than a factory 150.
If you edit your first post to read dash illumination like your drawing had all is ok. Good work on the outside thinking to fix a "issue" many others have asked about.
Cheers,
Andy

LOL mjrandom.
Sorry maddi, my intention was not to make you remove your idea or to shutdown creativity.
I merely was referring to your statement that DRLs were a piss poor afterthought from Toyota. I think DRLs are a good idea, and if you've replaced them with something else then that's great, I just meant that stock/factory Prado's are better off having the low beams on than off.
The line about killing someone was too harsh, my apologies.
Why so often on this forum are posts interrupted by those who's only contribution is to provide their own unsolicited opinions? i.e. in Maddi's words, shite.
Maddi, thanks for providing some details here for something that I (and I presume other like minded individuals) have been thinking about doing.
AussieAndy, agree your post today 07.04
Maddi, will watch out for your auto fold mirror mod in great anticipation.
A question to all owners / drivers of all pre-2014 facelift GXL's, do you always drive around in the day time with your headlights on? I bet not.
You would probably have your switch on Automatic, i.e. the lights come on when it is dark.
So isn't then by definition your GXL "less visible" (in the daytime) than Maddi's or mine with this mod?
Unless of course you turn the headlight switch to ON - but that might require some intelligence, awareness of situation, perception of reality and self responsibility - good thing Toyota has revealed you of such responsibilities by hard wiring the headlights ON for the current model GXL.
My pre facelift 150 GXL doesn't have an auto on function for the lights. I fitted Narva DRLs in the bullbar instead of the useless (to me) fog lights. I have fitted these also to our Colorado ute. I like DRLs, I think they are a good safety feature, especially with a dark ish blue car, but I also think the way Toyota have gone about it with the two base models is far from ideal. I think a minor rewire to activate some LEDs instead of low beams is a good idea. As long as the lights work when you want them to...
