Hi has anyone set up Torque Pro To read the auto tranny temps ? Tried different formulas with the pid bit but not very teckno . Mine is a 2010 build
Do I get a display up then add the pid ?
Step by step from the beginning would be great.

What no one out there has used it. Good way to add extra gauges to your phone to use on the move. ( Not the phone that's illegal.)

I run Torque Pro on my Android based stereo (Parrot Asteroid). Never got the gearbox temps to work.

Most here went for scanguage as TP at the time couldn't do Trans Temps. Don't know if it does for the Prado but a quick google brings up these instructions for the FJCruiser which is similar to the Prado:

The second link has a step by step with pictures

And the 150 instructions from PP

            Thanks to all
Even you Toyo you sound like you know how to do it ! Some of the links I had tried before. The one that worked was DRWORMY from the FJ forum. Very detailed for the not so Savy like me . The only change was the Long Name part , Method 3 it didn't work went back in and it was listed what I had inputted earlier.
Only done the pan so far as its my wife's phone and she will only let me use it for a short time.
Thanks again for the input this is what Forums are about.
            Cheers Joe

I wanted to try this but my android phone got stolen and i ended up with an iPhone so no Torque Pro App for me. I do have other scanner apps on the iPhone but none of them seem to be as good as the Torque App, not even close and on top of it, the iPhone seems very picky about which OBD Adapters it will work with.
That app saved my butt several times on another car. More specifically, a BMW which had some transmission problems and would go into limp mode every week or so. I could get off the limp mode by deleting the codes with the Torque App until i could fix it. (Which i did with just a transmission oil and filter change)

                Hi Toyo
As I have stated I'm not real computer savy but I thought Torque will work with apple but not with Bluetooth but with Wireless.??
                Worth looking at.

                  False Alarm
Turns out I was getting the coolant temp not auto temp so back to the drawing boards.
Had a bit of a play and put in 21D9 instead of 2182 and got the trans temp but it flashes back to a lower setting so a bit more to play with.
Hasn't anyone out there set up Torque Pro on android to suit a 2010 D4D ??
I tow a 2.500 kg van and the tranny temp would be good to monitor.

                    Poppy Joe,

Did you have any luck with the PID for the trans temp, as I would like to add it to Torque.

I got mine to with with that fj one. One is for pre 010 and the other is post 010. Either code will throw an error is it's the wrong one. I tried the d9 first and my obd2 wouldnt recognise it then i tried the 2182 and the equation for the same and it worked.
I did get a little confused as there are spaces in the text code online, but you don't put any in when typing the code.
Also to note that the min value is 0 and max 180 if you are setting temp value to C instead of F.
Hit the test button and away you go

After some diagnosis i worked out for some reason that i was getting 122 deg with the formula so i decided to use F instead of C for the unit and ended up with 55.1 deg idle. This has also rang true as i used a thermal gun to check pan temp 56 bell housing 66 and rad was 57, so id say it is right

Cheers and i hope this helps

This will give you the torque converter temp

                          OBD2 MODE-21d9
                          Long/Short names - Trans T

                          Max 180
                          Unit type - c
                          Equation - ((((e*256)+f (7/100)-400)/10)-32)*(5/9)
                          OBD header - 7E1

                            Can anyone assist with correct PID for trans temp for following vehicle;

                            2005 120 series
                            Petrol 1GR-FE
                            Auto trans

I have tried the info above on my Torque Pro app (created custom PID for trans temp), the unit communicates other typical info to phone such as coolant, speeds etc so it does work, just cant seem to get the trans temp going. Was interested in viewing this when towing a tandem trailer interstate to monitor trans health on trip.
                            Any help here appreciated.

                            Cheers, Mick.
