Hi guys and girls
Recently did a 6 week trip to the Kimberly's seen some amazing things and did even more amazing things but after some 10k round trip and around 2k of dirt and corrugations I had my first ever break down in my baby . Some where around 10kms short of Drysdale station my truck stopped just died and after a hour on the side of the road checking fuses changing fuel filters priming and seeing I still had a 1/4 of a tank of diesel we couldn't get it going. We towed her in to Drysdale and checked every thing from fuel lines to fuses and relays till we decided to bypass the tank and suck from a jerry and it started and ran. We moved to the fuel bowser and filled her up and reconnected the fuel filters back up and she ran like normal left it running for a hour no problems. Next day drove to Mitchell falls and spent a few days there on the way back some 15kms past Drysdale again she died. This time we decided not to try and do all the things we did before we just primed the pump got it going got up to 80kms and when she started to die I would shake the car and off she went again made it back filled up again and off we went. By the way yes just below a 1/4 of a tank again.
Since returning some 3 weeks ago I have not let it get below a 1/4 of a tank she runs fine have no issues with fuel economy or starting. So im sure it has to do with the fuel pick up in the main tank it either moved or ???? rang Toyota they say how do I know this is the problem or could many things. Well when you disconnect every fuel line including the one to the tank blow air through them suck on them get fuel out of them im convinced it can only be one thing. So there offer was 150 a hour min 2 hours just to drop the tank and they will see .
My questions has any one had this issue ? how hard is it to do my self ? and does any one think it might be any thing else ?
Look forward to your replies people ...Cheers Steve
