Will I damage the car if I experiment? Will it be easy to remove the wires once they are in the connector that is attached to the clock spring?

        In summary, one red wire (I assume the ground) that is connected to the steering wheel and is in the first lower right pin slot in the clock spring connector and the three wires coming from the cruise control stalk. I have to go ahead and buy the parts as I do not want to get the parts guy in trouble, still hoping this'll works if I can get a clue as to which wire goes into which slot.
        Hey,

        Can you take a photo of the stalk and wiring harness and post it here so we can confirm which wires go where?

        Yes there are three wires, in the last photo, the blue wire is for the horn, and the other two wires are the cruise control.

          Thanks mark, I have three wires coming in from the cruise control stalk which makes the total count 4! I will try and post photos later tonight (our time) so your Thursday morning. I have tried to post photos in the past without success, lets hope it works this time around. Cheers.

            Here it is, one end goes into the stalk and the three wires go into the steering wheel! But in what order? Slot one is occupied by a red ground wire going to the airbag.

              Hey,

              I have not seen a cruise control harness with x3 wires before, and as I have only worked on 120 series, I'm wondering if this is what the 150 version looks like?

              All I can tell you is which wire goes where based on what I have worked with on the 120. It may be that the red wire is superfluous and not needed on the 120.

              I can't see from your image where the wires go into the white connector, but this is what they look like on the 120;

              The black wire is on the right of the connector, and it goes to pin 4, white to pin 5, and horn through pin 6, as in this image;

              As I'm not sure what the 150 version of the cruise stalk and harness looks like, and also unsure if you're working on a 120 or 150, all I can suggest at the moment is reproducing what is in the photos above.

              Hope this helps!

                Hi Mark, my car is a 2008 Prado GX 2.7L, so definitely a 120 series Prado Not sure why I have three wires coming out of the wire that comes out of the cruise control stalk, I will take more photos of both ends and post tonight, your Friday morning. Thanks for staying with me on this, I guess I posted here because I was desperate for an answer . . . .

                  Hey,

                  I would try it first with the x2 wires as I described above and see if you get a result! Is the cruise stalk you purchased a genuine Toyota one? If it is, its possible it's for a 150 series, maybe check the part number to double check exactly which vehicle it's made for.

                  If the black and white wires are in the same pin positions on the stalk you have as in the photo of the OEM 120 harness above, then I would be plugging them into pins 4 and 5 as I described above.

                  Hope you get it sorted!

                    Yes, the part is most definitely for the Prado 120 because I sat with the guy when he pulled up the parts diagram. I will post the part numbers and the connector side of the cruise control cable to get your opinion, like you, I believe there is one wire too many and can be ignored for this application, but that is just an educated guess.

                      Ok, here are the photos, connected white and black next to the red ground that goes to the airbag, nothing took off the steering wheel column shroud, there are four cables going into the connector below the clock spring, they were blue, yello, white, and a green going into the last pin slot on the lower left side. I do not have stereo controls. I can switch the wires or put in all three, but the green wire below threw me off. What is the best way for pulling the wires out of the pins without destroying the metal piece, there is hardly any room in their. Suggestions? Which wire into which slots, I am so close I can taste it, at least I hope I am!

                      Apologies for the photos being upside down, I hate iPads!

                      Thanks in advance.

                        Hey,

                        Sounds like you need to do a continuity test between the j45 connector underneath (next to the yellow airbag connector) and the connector on the clock spring. Just check pin by pin and make sure you are getting a signal through the clock spring on each pin. The clock spring internal ribbon is easily broken, so good to double check each pin is active.

                        I'm not sure what that green wire is from!?

                        There is unfortunately no easy way to get those pins in and out.

                        Keep trying, sounds like you are close!
