So is it the width or the diameter that is the biggest issue? I have standard 245/70/17 and was going to go the 245/75/17 to get bigger side walls but minimise impact on fuel economy.. Would these fit??

      spacers needed for 265/70/17

do you have to fit spacers to the tailgate bracket of a 150 GX to fit the 265/70/17 AT3 Cooper?

I had them on our old 120 series and needed 10mm spacers to fit and not rub and that was after removing the plastic backing between the tyre and tailgate.

No - I've found the AT3s just clear the door without spacers

If you HAVE made 265/70/17 BFG Ko2 fit in the spare wheel cover could you please share details how. I have read the forums, and Facebook and some people have made it work. What have you modified? Have you got pictures?

            Hi Andy,

Getting a set of BFG ALL-TERRAIN T/A KO2 265/70R17 121S fitted on Friday (specifically this one) to my 2014 GXL. I'm not expecting that the cover will fit given what has already been said but I will give it a go and let you know if interested.

            Cheers

Quick follow up, cover wouldn't fit at 30PSI, however at 15PSI I was able to squeeze the cover on as in the photos. Was also able to get the clip on and the centre bolt tight (near the reverse camera). I probably will just run it with the cover off though.

Okay MT P3 in 265/70x17 will it fit on back door without stripping off the inside of the rear wheel cover ?. I understand the cover won't fit with the Mickey Thompson P3s.?

I got 5 BFG KO2s 265/70/17 121s fitted today, (have a 50mm OME lift). I forgot to measure the PSI before I put the cover on but Tempe Tyres filled the front to 38.5 and rear to 42 (what do you do highway driving on?).
Anyway spare cover for a 2014 GXL fitted more or less. Went on OK, bottom clip did up with a bit of an extra push and centre bolt in OK, however seems to be a bit of a gap of about 6 mm at widest along top between Front and rear covers. Barely noticeable. Otherwise seems all Good!

My 150 Kakadu has 265 60 R18 in it's wheel cover. I want new A/T's What would be the best all rounders seeing that someone on this thread says a taller narrower tyre is best for offroad. I would also like to retain the cover if possible, I don't care if I have to fit the tyre flat as I have a pump.
I know you guys throw the 18 rims away and fit 17's but I can't afford 5 new wheels as well at the moment.

Rexdog - not sure if you got an answer or not, but there are a few good AT options in the 265/65R18 (same width, 13mm lift/26mm taller) and 255/65R18 (slightly narrower, 7mm lift/14mm taller), which would all fit under the spare wheel cover. There are some good 255/70R18 options, but at 40mm taller I don't think will fit under the cover. I know that 7.50/16 'cheese cutters' are great in mud, but for sand, dirt, rocks, bitumen etc., there is nothing wrong with a 265mm wide tyre, especially when deflated to suit conditions. I prefer to protect the rims and sides of the car with either the standard size or even 275-285 wide, while keeping lift to under 25mm (legal requirement with my 50mm lift and/or the OEM +1 size method. Tyresales.com.au provide plenty of ways to compare sizes and prices. But something worth thinking about - 18 inch rims will mean more expensive tyres than 17 inch rims, and sometimes the difference over the life of the car mean that buying 17s early can save money in the long run...

I want to fit the bfg 265/70r17 A/T KO2 (getting a 2" lift), but as with others the cover has to stay. After reading above, I'm thinking fit four bfg to vehicle, and say a cooper at3 to the spare (fits in the cover). This way if I need to use the spare, it is same size and durable if off road. Any thoughts ??

See Johkno above - 265/70R17 KO2 should fit, but maybe with reduced pressure. Or wait until you have worn one down a little.

Considering the new Mickey Thompson Deegan 38 which is the STZ equivalent.

Has anyone had success with getting a 265/65/18 (801dia) or a 265/70/17LT (804dia) under the wheel cover?

Also considering moving back to 17" rims of some sort.

I've got a 265/70/R17 under the cover right now. It's a Banglop GT. I bought a set of 17in rims to eventually fit Muddies to - more options and cheaper than finding Light Truck Muddies for 18s.

If you have a look at the fist page there are some tyre brands and sizes there of what people have fitted. I found the 265/70x17 Mickey STZ light truck (804dia) fitted but the ATZ P3 (810dia) had no hope. The STZ looks like it has been replaced with the All-terrain 38 now.
