    • Standard Toyota bags. Or talk to AMTS on some springs.

      • ^ Std Toyo bag are not ideal if your running a lift, you have to run pumped up hard all the time

Airbag man really need to take a better look at this, we have not had any dramas with our kit fingers crossed we don't.
They are firm on not using a shock with an open length greater than 625mm. as the bag can pop out. The std bags have retaining bolts not sure airbag man don't
The toyo bags also have a protective bag guard as well

What was airbag mans response for why this happened ?

Cheers for that Airbag Man are replacing the bag that keeps blowing. They have taken the part number of my dobinsons MRR shocker. I think that's the angle they might be going for. I did say to them they don't list suitable or non suitable gear which they agreed on....

AMTS if you read this... I think springs will be the most reliable option ? How much are they ? And are the modification easy ?

Do guys still run helper bags ?

I need a bit more height than the airbag Man can offer...

Do u have a 17" wheel to guard measurement for the conversion ?

          Cheers n Thanks!!!!

          • I have 2 part numbers available. 150ABMD or 150ABHD. It will depend on the weight at the rear that you normally carry. Heights would be approx 840mm.

Cost is $220/pair and it is an easy straight replacement because the springs have been designed to specifically suit the airbag mounts on the diff and chassis.

Would you say the heavy duty due to caravan load ?

I have drawers and fridge in their too...

Do I require the oem airbags?

What's the feedback like on the coil conversion?

Are helper airbags a option ?

Thanks heaps for your help !!! Really appreciate it !

              • Normally, you fit the spring rate that matches the daily weight carried.

Some would fit assist airbags due to towing but if it sits just below level when towing, you could get away without assist airbags if the towing part is mainly bitumen and you don't need clearance because you will only go offroad once you unhook the trailer.

You won't need the OEM airbags anymore once you do the spring conversion.

                • Slippery you have me worried now as I'm about to install the Bag's and carry over my MRR setup from my old car. Are you running the standard MRR shocks in the rear?

There the 40-50 mm shocks for lift. I dont know they did a std length shock

Helper bags shouldn't be connected to the onboard compressor because the airbags aren't the same type. Helper airbags should only be pumped using a hand/bicycle pump before the load is applied to the vehicle.

                            • Slippery,

PHs' post above refers to concerns over open shock length, but you say your bags have only popped with the van on. I'm running the same bags (and the same van as it happens) and have not had a problem yet fortunately. Is the bag failing on flat ground simply under the load of the van, or when you reach maximum droop? I don't imagine you'd ever be near maximum droop with the van on, yet surely the open shock length would only be an issue when approaching full droop?

What's your rear axle load on the weighbridge? Are you running a WDH to reduce rear axle load?

                              David.

                                Hi Dave,

It's only a 170kg ball weight. Never had a issue with the Toyota airbags...

I went over the weigh bridge about 6 months ago and was well under the vehicles limits. The local weigh bridge has now closed down.

I received a defective product. Airbag Man just had a hard time believing that there product failed... I've got a new replacement bellows with new top and bottom seats.

I get caravan back on Monday and I"ll go for a drive and see what happens....
