I had a look and the vehicle insurance was very competitive, but when I looked at the camper trailer it was prohibitive, nearly 3 times my current insurance cost on it.

That's great feedback. I will PM you for more detail but I really appreciate you throwing that up. We are still relatively new and working things out so feedback (good or bad!) is what is going to help us continue to build our products to be what you all need them to be.

      Cheers

          Hey Club 4x4

would we be covered for contaminated fuel ?
as most people only get to put he into the tank you cant see what is going in, then 100km + down the road you start picking up the water etc

          thanks James

            G'day James,

We have a specific exclusion in our policy for when the incorrect fuel (putting petrol in a Diesel tank) is put unto the vehicle.

Contaminated fuel however is one we will cover, if it is found that that is the cause of your problems.

            Hope that clears things up.

            Cheers

Something thats more of a concern for 4x4ers than normal people - water ingress from river crossings - is there coverage for damage to carpets etc. caused by this? Or dust/dirt ingress onto important electrical components? I guess im trying to find the line between what is "deliberate" damage and "accidental" damage. Is ingress from a water crossing deliberate damage?

Water crossings are a part of being a 4x4 enthusiast so we do cover it for sure. There does need to be a reasonableness test though.

If you went gung-ho into a crossing that was 4 meters deep and there was adequate warning or local authority closures, or the reasonable person would know that going in was unreasonable then there will be a question, if that makes sense.

Kind of like that guy who drove into the ocean a few months back up in Queensland when being chased by the police!

However, accidents do happen, and if you took all precautions and just flooded it then that's what our coverage is here to respond to.

Not sure if that's answering your question mate.

What is the process when having a claim assessed? Exactly what does "choice of repairer" mean?

Hey Fido666. Hopefully you never have to go through it, but the process is relatively simple.

If you elect to go to your own repairer (we can recommend one if you don't have one) you take the vehicle there, get it quoted then send us back the quote and some photos.

We then assess the vehicle and the repairer's quote - if it is all fair and reasonable then we go ahead. If not then we may ask you for another quote.

hey all - just FYI we've made some adjustments to our web quoting system which should make it a lot quicker and easier - take a look and let us know what you think

That was a bit quicker. A few less questions in there.

FYI - I'd love to see a Rating (5-1) and Rating Protection scheme, as per my current RACV insurance. This is what's currently keeping me on the fence about changing.

Great feedback! we decided to make adjustments based on feedback we got from a survey we ran a few weeks ago so good to see we are on the right path. There is more to go in the coming months.

Regarding No Claim Bonus, you may find that a lot of insurers out there have moved away from the No Claim Bonus (NCB) structure. There was a period there where it became too easy to get the full NCB rating so it really diminished the value of it.

We don't rate based on it, we take your driving and claims history and set the premium that way. You'll find that for those companies that still do use NCB it wont be difficult to get a maximum if you shop around - most will simply match it, not like the original idea where you get rewarded and build it up over years of safe driving. Furthermore, you may find that the premium you are paying now is not 60% lower than those insurers that don't operate on a NCB system - but I have been wrong before!

But I understand your point, so sorry we cant help you out.

Well Allianz just tried to charge me $380 extra for the remaining 6 months of my policy just because I moved from WA to Vic. So that's $1600 all up, entered the same details with club 4x4 and new policy $1000. Slightly higher access but for such difference in premiums it was a no brainer.
