I have found the same issue with the new Prado, reversing camera at night time is not that good, very pixelated and grainy.
Suspected it was from maybe low light and from what has been said on here that sounds right.
      Cheers

My last 2010 Kakadu had an awesome picture when reversing at night, but my 2014 is crap as you can see by the pic's.
Toyota tell me it is a completely different head unit inside and the camera is also different.
I even tried to swop the actual camera from a Kakadu similar to my old 2010 model and put it on my 2014 model to see if it made any difference, but the connections at the camera are totally different. I'm running out of ideas hence the post.

Put more lights at the rear or splice an aftermarket camera into the wiring at the door.

I don't have a reverse camera but when I reverse I like to have light as I am usually hitching up to a trailer.

I bought some High powered LED reversing lights. Heaps more light. Give that a go, a few extra lumens will help

I put as set of Narva LED driving lights on my rear spoiler either side of the LED brake light to help with reversing at night. It was a lot of work though and took several hours. I had to remove, then open up the spoiler which took a lot of time. I then spliced into the wiring loom of the right taillight. Came up a treat though.

I would certainly try upgrading the taillight lamps first. My 2010 Prado still had regular lamps for reverse (so I could have upgraded these first). Do the later (face-lifted) Prados still have replaceable incandescent lamps for reverse as the taillights were changed with the face-lift? I assume the stop, tail and indicators are LED.

Thanks guys, I will look into what reversing light bulbs are in there, and if possible upgrade them to a brighter ones.
                Cheers
