  • Removing third row seats step by step instructions (MY14 GXL)

So i was bored this afternoon and taught i wonder how hard it is to take out the third row seats.

The whole job took me about 30mins once i worked out how to take it apart, Next time it would be a 15min job

    Tools Needed
    • 2x Flat Blade screwdriver
    • 10mm Socket
    • 14mm Socket

    Step 1.
Using a 10mm Socket remove the 2 rear tie downs

    Image-1

    Step 2.
Lift the flap off the door and put your hand underneath, Lift up to remove, this is just clipped in.

    Image-2

    Step 3.
Remove the rubber seal around the bottom of the door.
With a 10mm socket remove the 3 bolts holding the rear step trip to the false floor support

    Image-3

Remove the rear step trim. To do this i found it easier to use two screwdrivers and leaver the clip on either side until it popped out. Once you remove the first one the rest remove much easier, be careful not to scratch the paint

    Image-4
    Image-5

This is what it looks like once removed

    Image-6

    Step 4.
Unclip the remaining trims on the left and right side

    Image-7

You will be left with just the seats and the false floor support

    Image-8

    Step 5.
With a 10mm socket remove the remaining bolts on the false floor support

    Image-9

Then remove the Left and right support with a 10mm socket

    Image-10

    Step 6.
Unbolt the 4 bolts on each seat (8 in total)
One on the far back left/right

    Image-11

    Two in the middle back

    Image-12

    Four at the front

    First Seat removed

    Both seats removed

Very easy and nothing to stress about, remember if you put the seats back in you will need to tighten them to the appropriate torque and apply locktight.

Don't have a 150 - but found this very informative. Suspect that many 150 owners will be using this guide.

Nice work! Is it ok if I pull this info into a single document for easier reading?

I actually have no idea if I make some draws the would need to be nice and low. Although they make access easy, I find they take up too much room.

For now I will probably make a false floor with some marine carpet and enjoy the extra space (some removable plastic draws always do the trick) . I would like this to easily be removed so I can add the seats in if required, I'll probably work this out over Easter.
              Anyone done this before?

                Hi,

See attached photos on what I have done. I must thank Prado point members for the ideas. I also wanted a 4x4 that also is my daily drive. One issue is that the floor is not level due to the 3rd row of seats. 2 grandchildren arrive last week so I guess they will not be needed for a couple of years

So the next step is to remove (as u have done) and build a flat floor. The plastic shelves, bought from Bunnings, have stood up to some rough tracks and still are in good shape. Water tank is a black Widow with pump. I need to find a better place for the tape and easy of use for the wife. The fridge is a drop slide as the wife is short and cannot reach the beers (HA HA)

Next trip is a guys trip to Vic high country in May. Wife is happy to stay in Crimeburn

How did you make the template of the floor?

I had a false floor for about a month now (just some 6mm ply) to give it a go. Must say I'm really glad i pulled the seats out, there is heaps more room now.

Got the boys at Drifta to make me a false floor as i intend to be ordering a set of their draws in the next few months. Just put it in today

You would have to cut a few trims and modify a few brackets to make it work, but I'm sure it could be done but won't be reversible.

Yep defiantly possible, perhaps go to a wrecker and cut those parts rather than the originals?

I was think of doing this
                              http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...ads/image.jpeg
I was thinking of taking the near side seat out and build a platform leave with the off side seat so I can bolt the slide to ,I can see where it will fit at the back of the car but do you have any idears for the front
