  • No Entry on Service Book- 1st Service of Prado GXL 2015 Demo Car

    Hi All,

Newbie here, so go easy on me if I'm doing something wrong

So , I bought a Prado GXL 2015 Diesel last week (and very excited) , This is a second hand/demo vehicle done about 900 kms. When I check the service schedule I found out that the first service is due in 6 months (after registration) or 10,000 Km which ever occurs first. But the problem is,
my service book (I got with the vehicle) hasn't been stamped saying the service was done in 6 months (It has been 8 months since the registration now)

Now I'm worried whether this will affect the warranty of the vehicle. Can someone share their opinion and how to go about this.

    Thanks in advance

    cheers

    Sam

So did you buy it from the original dealer. If so take the book back and get it stamped. You won't be missing out on anything as the first "service" is more of an inspection. No fluids are changed.

The 6 month or 10,000km service is indeed more than an inspection, and oil and filters should have been changed.
If it was purchased from a dealer, go back and talk with them to sort it out sameera.
Unfortunately you didn't give enough info to provide an opinion, but an opinion is worthless anyway, you need to speak yo the dealer.

        Hi @MDS69, @brogers,

Sorry my bad, I missed that detail . Yeah, I did buy it from a Toyota Dealer (from Paramatta), I'm planing on going to the dealership (probably tomorrow) and get the book stamped.

I'll update the thread on the progress.

thanks again for the quick replies

        cheers

I hope that you're not going back there to get it stamped but to make sure that the service was indeed carried out, and if not get the service done.

Its illegal for the dealer to void a warranty regardless, the whole servicing thing is rubbish, Subaru a the worst for it. My wifes outback is 5 years old but only had done 20,000kms and I was expected to be servicing it up to 120,000km by that stage, including the timing belt, what a joke. That's like $5000 worth of servicing and parts on a car that has as much wear and tear as a 6 month old brand new car.

In the end I got the three major services completed in one day by a Subaru specialist for this price of one major service ($2500 worth for $1200). Book all stamped up to current. So dumb. This was never an issue with the advanced 1980s technology, these days cars are built and designed so poorly they will break down without the 6 month service, LOL.

The servicing schedule is a joke and the dearler's do not even know what to do when one comes in overdue.
We have a Kakadu it is 3 years old in June.
I get the services done about 8-9000ks apart not time related.
Last service in December/January I told them I wanted a 30,000 service, it had done 27,000km.
They tried to tell me it needed a 50,000 service, I told them to just do the 30,000 service.
When I picked up the vehicle there was a carry on with what was supposed to be done and they did not know what to charge for. I told the 30,000 service plus the new fuel filter that was requested.
The new sticker on window said next service at 50,000 km or June 2016.
What a joke it has just turned over 30,000 now.
              Cheers

2 Toyota dealers told me that they do not stamp the books unless the owner asks for it to be done. They "keep their records" electronically so your service record is available at any Tojo dealer throughout Australia. Trust them.

My bad. In my rush at reading I missed the 6 month 10k bit and was assuming the 1500km inspection as he only had 900km after 8 months.

My December 2015 2.8 has just had it's 10,000 Km or 6 month service. On Wednesday I will be overseas for 6 months and the Prado will be stood up in a garage.
The dealer says I must have it serviced again in December even though it will not have been driven.
I brought this up on the Toyota owners forum and was quickly shouted down by a mod telling me that the oil would need changing as it could "go off".
I couldn't be bothered to reply although I did wonder why Toyota oil does not seem to "go off" when a vehicle is in the showroom.
Reluctantly I will have it serviced again as I have so little trust in Toyota that I fear they could use a missed service as a warranty issue.

Ironically, a glitch on their computer system, when I was getting my car serviced as per the book, always showed that my next service was due 5,000km after the last service. My advice from Goldfields was to refer to the window sticker!.

                        Hi All,

Thanks for all the replies, So the current status is,

Went to the dealer , and they said the same thing as most of you have mentioned above. They said its just an inspection, they will have a look in to that and stamp the book for me. (they kept the book with them) .

Again thanks for sharing all your comments ,

                        cheers
