    Hi Nardoth
great pictures, howevr I have a couple of questions before I face this challenge.

The two silver air vent panel on either side of the radio, how easy was it to remove them & what tools did you use? do you have any pictures? to show how it was achieved?

Your photo shows the entire console being removed, was this necessary? Once the two air vent silver panes are removed was it possible to undo the bolts holding the radio and them remove the radio through the front opening of the console?

    cheers Texasbh

      Trinedy -
I plan on doing that also, but instead I plan to install Spotify on the Head Unit and then use the phone as a HotSpot for internet access.
Just FYI all these Android HeadUnits are basically the same thing underneath so this Bluetooth issue isn't just limited to my Unit, you might be in luck, but if you have a Samsung S7 you will probably have this issue on a lot of the HeadUnits.

      Texasbh -

I used THIS YouTube clip as a guide, watch the whole video before following because he makes some errors on the way.

      - Basically you remove the bottom silver bits, then the ones on each side of the head unit (they require quite a pull from the bottom before they come loose) no tools for that bit.
      - Then there are 4 Bolts (10 or 12mm) holding the middle bit + 1 holding the big white Connector on the left side. The console comes out quite easily and easy to move around as there is a bit of play in the cables behind.

You could possibly use a small spanner and undo the bolts without taking out the console, but it wouldn't be easy. The console itself comes out quite freely and slots in again quite easily as well (using the top as a guide). I did mean to take more photos but once i got into it i forgot to :?

        Thanks Nardoth,
Thanks for the You tube link, it explained it quite well, still have not decided on which unit to buy. looking at the Joying Andriod Kit Kat 4.4.4 & the Ebay 7" Quad Core Android 5.1 (this is the unit you installed) Did you consider any of the Joying units?

        Cheers Texasbh

I did look at some of them, but as i wanted a android 5.1 and i didn't want to use the side adapters I went Xtron. + built for Toyota meant i didn't need the extra ISO Wiring Harness

            THIS the one mate?

Wonder if it integrates/can be programmed for steering wheel controls? - I have them.

EDIT Scratch the steering wheel comment - i see in the listing that it does....... hmmm might get one

When do you plan on installing Spotify? would love you opinion on it before i shell out the moolah (only because you already have it installed LOL)

And finally thanks for taking the time to reply re the bluetooth issue and the way around it for Spotify - appreciate it.

Yea that is the one i have.

I actually did get the Bluetooth Audio working in the end, it actually required opening a App before the music passed through. Phone calls worked automatically so i assumed the music would too, and the app was called A2DP so i didn't pick it up at first.

But I also installed Spotify and Pandora on the Head Unit and that worked just as well via the HotSpot, its still my preferred method as I will be using HotSpot for the Maps anyway.

I have been measuring the area for the radio, it does seem quite a tight for the Xtron. What (if any) modifications did you do to get to fit? Did all the 4 bolt holes line up without any modifications.

What GPS software are you running? any issues

What accessories did you order with your unit.

                  Cheers

It is a tight fit, but it went in without any modification for me, though I may need to sand back the top and bottom a little as i have noticed the DVDs occasionally get stuck coming out, due to the top thin bit of plastic being pushed down a little to much. The backend fit just the same as the Original Head unit, all screws in the same place.

Compared to the Xtron official Prado unit verse the unit I got there is 2mm difference in height and 1mm in width of the Face Plate:
                    - Xtron Prado Unit
                    - Xtron Toyota Unit

I've only tried the Google Maps for now with the GPS, haven't had time to sort out a better offline set of Maps yet.

I got the OBD2 sensor from Xtron, I've ordered a reverse camera separately from eBay as the Xtron prices once in the AUD were pretty steep. Still waiting on the camera to arrive.

Which unit did you end up buying? Just fired off an email to the Carjoying guys earlier about the JY-UL135.
USD $355.98 for the unit, USB DAB+ module and Prado wiring hardness looks pretty awesome.

Will share my experience if it goes ahead

                        Hello nardoth and all contributing,

Since starting this thread I have held off as the Android 5.1 units are still a bit buggy according to posts elsewhere. Most Android 5.1 units are using sub boards mounted onto the original Android 4.4 main boards. Some are working fine with response times much faster. The real bugbear is the RAM memory size now mostly 1 Gb. I know Carjoying & probably others are working on a new version with Android 5.1 & 2Gb RAM which will allow you to load many more apps

So ATM I'm holding off until the dust settles and these 2DIN Android 5.1 units are sorted properly.

That said many with Adroid 4.4 units are still quite happy with the extra features you can have installed.

But IMHO the 7in HD display will become the standard.

BTW thanks to all for the contributions. A few more photos of your experiences with specific 2 DIN installs on the 120 Prado - particularly if your have steering wheel controls functioning with your new Head Unit. Also which rear camera & how good is its night vision.

Also if your are using a USB hard drive for data? Your experiences with SATNAV street maps & off-road maps would be great

I note there is another thread on the 150 Prado section about OBD2 & PIDs for Injector Volumes etc. - worth watching.

Not sure if these will be greatly different for the 120 Prado IKD, but we need to get this sorted as all will benefit from having access to the vital 1KD data parameters - particularly for the Torque Pro Android App.

The above is the main reason I started this thread, saves buying another piece of hardware with techstream that dangles off the dash! Far better if all you need do is hit the App icon !!!

That said all the other features not in the TMC Head Unit will be most useful.

                        Cheers to all David

OHHHH excellent -fingers crossed no issues with engine mounts.

Back on topic, purchased the unit just a moment ago along with some new speakers (went with 6.5's splits in the front standard in the rear - went with Alpine Type S, looked ar R's just couldnt justify the cost difference.
got THIS unit - as mentioned in my prev post.
