  • Suggestion for 2" lift with OEM airbag in the back?

    Hi,

I took my vehicle to the mechanic yesterday for the first full service after purchasing from private seller. The mechanic told me the front struts need to be replace together with the control arms (not sure upper or lower). I measured before and realized that the left side is lower than the right side, I tried to put some washers to the rear left sensor hoping that it will help but not much. I reckon the rear airbags are still usable, not crack or something like that plus I don't go heavy offroad so I'm thinking about doing the lift for the front first.

Reading through many posts about suspensions I think I will go with Bilstein for the front struts, may be with the rear shock as well but still keep the OEM airbags for now so I can DIY in the future with Airbagman bags or something.

Could you suggest the suitable Bilstein part number for the front & shocks for the rear? I'm not quite sure if it's possible to do that & keep the OEM airbag?

    Cheers

Not Bilstein but give ARB Penrith or Mannell Motors Thornleigh a call. They have experience with 2" lifts in Grandes with success.

      From this thread http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...hs-and-Valving
      Front 24-238762
      Rear 24-238830

You can use the OEM airbags but will need to retain the bottom if doing a 2" lift using a spacer block.

Just speaking form personal experience, I am not happy with my ex Bilsteins which after 80k are now landfill. About to try some Kings, admittedly I am paying for some fancy shocks, but after a bad experience I need to step up from what has proven to not be adequate for my driving.

Shocks should not break at welds - ever.

Is it the spacer you built atms? I'm interested in knowing if you are still providing it?

I love your DIY fix to get home though! Ingenious!

Like to know how you go with this. My Billies are soon due for replacement. I've got one foray into the Goldfields coming up in June and will probably ditch them after this trip in order to have something new for the 2017 GTG.

I can't find the spec for "24-238830". From this link http://www.bilsteinaustralia.com/pro...ian-conditions , they mention 24-217897 instead.

I'm wondering if combination BE5-A712/24-217897 would work as the mechanic went ahead and ordered BE5-A712 already >.<

You can keep the o.e.m airbag.
Keep the rear travel about the same.
The Monroe combo works well, with Dobinsons coils to lift front.
Keep it to 30-40mm is the go.
