  • car idling too high when engine is cold

    Hey guys,

First of all, thankd for letting me join this great forum. I bought a prado couple days ago and I love it.
but lately it revs up 1500when I start it in the morning. I have to drive around for like 10 mins until the engine warms up and the idle revs slow down very slowly to normal 800rpm.
It wasnt like that when I bought the car so it cant be the cooler weather. Ecu reset didnt change anything. Havent noticed any weird noises or funny behaviour of the car besides that and I didnt do any work on the car since I bought it
im a bit worried cause I want to drive to brisbane in 3 days, could this be something seriou and how can I find out whats causing the problem?

Thanks a lot for your answers!

    Cheers, korbi

The car doesn't have a idle up button so its not that simple sadly. Anyone else has some ideas?

        Cheers!

Normal operating revs. If the idle didn't drop by itself it would be different but nothing to worry about. Mine runs exactly the same.

So yours idles at 1500 rpm for 10 minutes? Mine goes down with in 2 or 3 minutes
I got myself some Big Horn Maxxis and was telling my landrover lover mate he said what size did you get I told him 265/75/16 he said I didn't know they came that small.

Mine revs at about 1200rpm when cold. A couple of minutes driving and it drops back to normal.

It does seem to idle high for a while especially if the car is being driven and the revs don't get below about 2000, it takes a while to drop down to the 750 - 800 Mmmmmmmmmm
