Aircon System Help

Here are some pictures of my leaking evaporator from a 2008 GXL with climate control. Note the oil stains on the bottom third. I dropped off the Prado at an air con specialist Friday afternoon, they worked on it over the weekend and I picked it up Monday. They also replaced the TX valve while the dashboard was out and dessicant bag. 10 hours labour + $400 parts = $1,700. Works fine now.2008 D4D GXL

I recently had similar symptoms with my A/C. I had a local mechanic regas the system, but within a few weeks the problem reoccurred.
Wanting to get through christmas, 2 birthdays, and 3 car regos , a big A/C fix wasn't on the cards just yet. My mechanic suggested I try some STOPLEAK (available through Bursons) and another regas. 4weeks later, so far so good.
Hopefully the dye from the first re gas has left its mark and will stay until the end of summer

I have a similar problem and have put it down to the evaporator unit, was thinking i might be able to do it myself as i have read it can be accessed through the glove box, and pulling out the dash is not required.2008 D4D GXL
