  • BUSH PINSTRIPING- TV's Shark Tank 25th May '16

I started a thread a while back with my personal solution to bush pinstriping using magnetic sheets. I'm glad that I didn't invest in thousands of metres and start trying to pump out commercial quantities, it's possible these guys have beaten me to it.

If you are interested in protecting your truck from bush pinstriping, it looks like someone has a new commercial solution and will be pitching it on channel 10's SHARK TANK this Wednesday at around 8:30 pm, Sydney. Check your local networks for times. If you miss it, the episode should be on Tenplay for the next month after the 25/5/16.

PS I have nothing to do with Shark Tank or the business involved, just saw a short for the episode and seeing as I've invested a fair bit of time sheeting my two 4wd's with my homemade solution, it caught my eye.

I've had it suggested by 4wd buddies who've seen my magnetic "peril shields". Just lack the energy these days though, too busy kicking back and enjoying life as it is.

Good luck to these blokes though, I'll watch with interest.

Looked like a good product, and managed to get some interest from the sharks (2 of them signed up)...I wonder how long it'll be before its an actual saleable product.

Nice product, love the ease of fitting.

I guess I'll be waiting a looong time for a set to fit the 3 door Prado (5 door will probably fit I guess, that's one of the problems with the 3 door, they didn't enlargen the doors to ease access into the back).

Still, I reckon we may be waiting a long time for the 5 door Prado version as well. He mentioned they were going to target the top 5. What would they be, especially if you were targeting the US market- Jeep, Hilux, FJ and maybe 'cruiser and Patrol ?

Agree, I did not see the episode last night so viewed it on Ten Play.

They have already added two more vehicles to detailed on there website. Ford Ranger MK II (Avail Jun 16) & Landcruiser 200 Series (Avail Aug 16).

IMO, I think they are a great idea and would save many a side panel from scratches. Guess well have to wait and see.

Just search for rhino hide on google and you will find it.

Amazing that people want to buy paint protection panels stuck on with magnets for a 4WD.

The FJ Cruiser version is $1650, Cruiser 200 and Ford Ranger $2350. They're ABS plastic panels the size of the panels they protect. Bulky and not cheap.

You can buy an awful lot of buff and polish for that!

The idea of the Rhinohide™ system was originally conceived almost 15 years ago, when a much younger Marc, borrowed his parent’s new 4wd for a road trip up north with some close mates.

His father’s parting words were “don’t take it off-road, you’ll scratch it.”

As the young men ventured down a fairly tame track looking for adventure, these words were soon forgotten. All was going well until they brushed past a bunch of branches. Unbeknownst to them, the soft looking leaves hid a fairly solid branch which proceeded to gouge a deep scratch into the paintwork from the front quarter panel all the way to the rear.

Marc’s heart sank as he inspected the damage – there was no way to hide it. It was now going to be a permanent feature on the vehicle.

After a severe talking to from his parents and a solid 2 days with the cut and polish, Marc thought to himself “4wds are designed to be taken off-road, yet people are too frightened of getting them scratched.”

If any of you guys are interested, now's the time. They have announced kits for the Landcruiser, Ranger and they already have the FJ.

The have put up 3 more vehicles and are taking votes on which one they do next- Prado, Ford Everest, Hilux. Go to Rhinohide.com.au, click on "Find out more" and then scroll down on the next page to cast a vote.

So they want $2350 just to help protect the side panels from scratches???

I could get the panels they protect repainted for that sort of money come sale time and not have to store some big bulky things.....
