Having just purchased a 2.8 GXL auto I am thinking of changing oil/filter every 5000km myself as well as getting the scheduled services done by Toyota. Is this necessary on new car or overkill and if so what are people's thoughts on best brand/type of oil to use?

Brogers... Would you mind sending us your spreadsheet to modify as a basis? I've been using a few phone apps to try keep track of service items, but they seem a bit lacking when you try track multiple items due at different times/kms. I was going to make a spreadsheet instead!
