I have been working with our proposed accommodation providers to get good deals for us as a group. In most cases we are being treated as a tour group which enables us to use tour group reserved areas.
We will be in some caravan parks along the way and we may be limited to the type of space eg: have to camp in allocated bays as opposed to a general group camp. I'm working on this.
Please also be aware that is by no means going to be a budget trip. Everything in the Kimberley is expensive and camp rates are no exception being on average $40-$50 per night for two adults. So far I've had some great support form El Questro and others to reduce this slightly. Be prepared to part with your hard earned $$.
We are aiming to have registrations open by mid July.
We will also be doing this a bit different to the the past GTG's as we will ask you to pay your accommodation fees for the whole trip before we go.
This is for two reasons -
      1) It makes it easier to get group rates.
      2) Means it has been secured and locked in as we will be able to pay deposits and finalise it before we get there otherwise you have no guarantees.

A part of every GTG is the after dinner, round the campfire, "Fines" tradition. During the course of the day, participants on the GTG are asked to keep an eye out for any unusual, odd, strange or bad behaviour by others in the group. This could be something as simple as leaving your coffee mug on the roof or as full on as getting bogged or flooded.
Each night we will gather to discuss the days events and also a run down on the next day. Then we start the "fines".
You can be "fined" more than once each night but the most you will have to put in the "fines" tin will be $2 per day (make sure you budget for this!!). Quite often this session leads to much hilarity and quite a bit of story telling.
This years charity recipient of all the fines money collected and also if there is any left in the event bank (hope not! Will do our best to spend it all for your entertainment!) will be the Sirens of Silence Charity.
This charity was started in 2015 by Broome locals Ian & Lyn Sinclair. Ian is a serving paramedic in the WA St Johns Ambulance and Lyn has recently left the service. After a surge in the number of suicides amongst ambulance personnel, they decided more support was needed for all emergency service men and women and Sirens of Silence was born. Their focus is now to assist and support all those who work to protect and save our lives in the emergency services. To see more -

Well, what can I say but a big thank you to all those involved with the 2017 PP GTG.
It has been a week and I'm finally feeling well enough to think about closing this chapter of the GTG book.
Firstly - my biggest thanks are to Whitey1 and his support from the day I stuck my hand up and dobbed us in (somewhere in Tassie I think). He took over the nightly "Tribal Councils" when I fell ill and filled in any gaps smoothly.
Secondly - Big thanks to VKPrado for their support and information on how to put this event together. Also to Bushbasher for his input and encouragement.
Thirdly - To all our sponsors, whether they provided some of the great gear in the Welcome Bags or the give away table or our accommodation hosts for the discounts and camping arrangements (no mean feat at this time of year in the Kimberley).
Fourthly - To Ian and Lyn Sinclair from Sirens of Silence Charity for organising the Farewell BBQ and roping in helpers. What a great meal!

But most of all - THANKS!! to everyone who joined us as a participant from all over Australia. We hope that you got a great taste of the Kimberley and the many other parts of the country that you travelled through to join us.

                      Bring on the next GTG!!
