  • 1KD-FTV injectors BDG or new DLC DENSO.

    Do you have BDG injectors?

If so why did you choose those over new DLC DENSO?

Or if you have new DLC DENSO why?

Big thankx in advance for any replies

I got Toyota boxed Denso from Rick in NZ. I wasn't comfortable buying BDG injectors as the solenoids were recycled.

Do you have the part number handy for the DLC Denso injectors?

I used Baileys mainly for the price and seemed that the coating was a good thing. But they need to be replaced again. Still in warranty. Undecided if I will just replace with denso or try get warranty. They sent me a warranty form, It will cost a just about as much money to get a "LICENSED DIESEL" Mechanic to fill out the form than it will to just replace with Denso. I tell everyone I know NOT to use Baileys.

I think you'll find many on here only used BDG because of what they read on PP and the fact that initially they were 'supposed' to be superior DLC coated spindles and were cheaper than DENSO.

Mmmm cheaper AND better... at the end of the day they are 'remanufatured' and use the old soleniod...
            Cheers

If someone was using & recommending/supporting a product, this may have influenced a purchase did it?
To be FAIR, do you think that influence should also share findings & possible risks?

Because at the time I got mine, BDG was a forum sponsor and you could purchase them through the PP store.

Now like a fart in a hurricane, they have all but disappeared in any online discussions.

New DLC Denso went in my truck as my mechanic lives a fair drive away and I didn't want to take any risks with an otherwise excellent and expensive vehicle.
The way it's been since made me happy, and some of the stuff I heard makes me even happier with my original decision.

Took a punt on the Baileys and at the time they were way cheaper than equivalent new Denso. Had them replaced under warranty after 10,000 (number 3 was sticking & part of a faulty batch according to Baileys). Second set have been in 20,000km now and readings are all fairly similar to when they went in and all still well under spec. I check them every month or so.

                        Some great comments.

Edjukated, There is a few part numbers, I only use last 3 to 4 digits, (trade talk).
So please email me model, month & year, vin & I can give you a part number. If you can get a better price or service, try! Happy to help if I can. Prado #################### (no space).

Gxld4d, I was never exited about the solenoids either, could have been off much higher Klm's vehicle too.
Never saw an issue with them though. But I did believe in the build quality & warranty backup.
Anyway new injectors were a lucky choice.

Turbo, IMO the new ones are a good choice, not much price difference. About $200 more.

                        Cheers,

                        ####.

Thanks for the reply. Not looking at replacing any as such, mine is a 1KZ bur my mate has a 1KD and we were discussing checking the injectors out to see which it was. If you have it handy it would be interesting to know what last few digits correlated with the DLC injectors.

                            Brass seats

BDG have been supplying brass sheets/seats on the BDG injectors, they come with your injector set purchase.
This has been from 06/2014 (or earlier) untill 06/2016 (advised in May) as far as I know at this stage.
You will have to confirm with Matt for more about dates. (I only used since DLC).

In May this year, I found one leaking. So I went looking for why. Long story short, brass sheets.

                            http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...=Engine+damage

Brass cannot squash/flex & seal or stay sealed like the Genuine costed copper ones do.

                            Anyway,
We don't want engine seizures popping up all over the place, so for now
YOU NEED TO CAREFULLY CHECK YOUR OIL PICKUP at oil changes.

OK I think I should share my experience. After my first set of Baileys showed signs of a leaking seal, I took it to BDG (after Toyota said there was nothing to worry about.) Matt happily replaced the seal and threw in a set of new injectors.

1500 km later number three injector failed at the Tassie Get together. Matt said he thought it was a "bot of dirt got into the fuel line during installation." Fortunately the injector stuck closed, so no damage done. Matt offered to send a set of injectors down, but I declined and got Launceston Toyota to fit a set of Denso's. Their service was great.

                              Conclusions:
. Like ####, I think there is an issue with the Brass seals.
. I think that one or more of the BDG service guys lacks care when fitting injectors
. BDG injectors are quieter than the Denso ones. I suspect this means they are a better product. They are fully DLC coated which probably makes a difference and certainly makes them quieter.
. I am still to hear from Matt about his findings and any compensation for the fitting of the replacements in Hobart.
. 40,000 km later no issues at all with the Denso injectors.

What would I do in the future?

If I lived near #### I would get him to fit BDG injectors with Toyota alloy seals
Otherwise as I don't live near ####, get a good Deisel mechanic and go with the Denso ones.

The real trick is to find a good diesel mechanic.

                              Just my opinion.
