    hi
so even the current ones are supplied with the hard sheets/seals???
as i have just fitted a set and would annoyed if they needed removing because the injectors from BDG
were supplied with the wrong sheets/seals.
    cheers brett

Add one more to the tally. Carried out my regular check of the screen and found 40% blocked on the weekend. This is my second set of injectors last set only managed 10k before going out of range. Current set fitted last year done 10 k. Not happy Jan...... Injectors removed on Saturday and number 1 leaking and surprise surprise Brass seats the cause. I will be asking for a please explain from Baileys in the coming days. I suggest anyone with these seats to be very worried. One other point I could tell something wasn't right before I had even checked the screen oil was a lot darker than normal and had a burnt smell. Oil and filter done ever 5k. Good luck everyone.

        Me either. Sounds correct

        No!
Since sometime in May when I informed Matt he changed to genuine washers.
Purchases in June/July/August should be ok.
Yes very annoying for many people.

Sorry to hear, but glad I helped save your engine.
You will notice the oil goes black & thick fast with blow by.
No luck, just check your oil pickups.
        Cheers for checking & sharing.

Baileys brass Injector seats - leaking.

Just a reminder, incase anyone with BDG injectors missed it.
They accidentally supplied brass washers on the Injectors.
From approx, July 2014 or earlier, to 24th ish May 2016. Please confirm with BDG.

Please check your oil pickups. If you don't understand please ask.
Oil starvation will end in absolute engine destruction, if not detected.
Sorry to bring the bad news, but it's good too. Look at things positively.

          Cheers,

          ####.

Many are leaking. I have checked 8 & 4 are leaking. Lets hope odds improve.
Roo is finding them leaking, he is doing 4th set with blow by today.
I hope yours are not leaking.

Hey ####, thanks for the heads-up. I bought my 120 D4D in January 2015 and missed the Toyota recall, but had it done after reading about it on PP. Toyota did the readings on the injectors prior to doing the seats and #4 was way out and another one was on its way. I decided to go with the BDG DLC Injectors after reading about them on PP and doing my own research. They supplied their injectors which I passed on to Toyota for replacement at the time they did the seats. I told them that the BDG's came with seats already, but the Service dude told me that they will use the Toyota ones anyways. I am kinda hoping they did actually use Toyota ones and not the supplied BDG seats. It certainly raises the question, however... how do I know for certain? Can I take the dealer's word at face value and ASSume they used their own seats?

Next question... how difficult is it to remove and replace the sump in order to give the pick-up screen a thorough clean out? I am hoping it's easy, as I feel that it's going to be the only way I will be able to determine if the seats are doing their job or not. I change the oil religiously (much to the wife's dismay) at 5k, so if i clean the pick-up screen at the upcoming oil change and see how it is in another 5k and 10k time, it would allow me to sleep a little better.

                    What do you think?

I think the Toyota dealer would have used their own washers. Lucky.
Just stick to checking the oil pickup is clear each service.
Yesterday I was told a similar story, but, the dealer said if we are using BDG injectors we must see their washers. Bugger!

No need to do that unless it is contaminated.
It's simple. I may have written it earlier in this thread or another.
Somewhere anyway, I will try & do it again here.
But please don't waste time on it if oil pickup is clear.
You just look in the sump hole to check.

                        Remove bashplate.
                        Drain oil.

                        Use grey Maxx to re-seal.
                        9nm
But don't do it unless you see it contaminated.

                          Bit of an update.

Well we thought if your oil pickup is clear, your in the clear, for now at least.
Sure your engine is not going to seize up.
But, when the compression is blowing past the injector, it causes some corrosion & rust.
Injectors are getting stuck in, because they are dry, no lube.
Look blow by is not really good for Injectors either.

Just keep that in mind when you ask your mechanic or technician if they checked your oil pickup.
Make sure it has been check properly & correctly.
With the brass washers it's imperative it's getting accurately checked.
Imo It's also very important to get the brass out sooner rather than later.

D.I.Y oil pick up cleaning is fairly simple. As above.

This number 4 was stuck pretty solidly. Only about 15,000k.

It's more Important than ever to be clean, re-using injectors.
Cap off all injectors & pipes.

Fun Injector removal. Clear oil pickup, still blow by.

Seating area not making contact, brass don't squash/flex

You can see the brass is so hard it cannot squash & flex to seal.
The brass washer discovery in May 2016!

Imo Check oil pickups urgently if your Injectors have been in a while.

All this information is supplied for the purpose of warning owners of the possible issues & risks.
Duty of care?, well it may or may not be my duty, but I think it's the right thing to do.
Also to reduce the suppliers exposure due to oil starvation & engine failure.

Now it's school holidays, so I'm going to be spending time with the family, you won't see me round much.

                            Happy motoring.

                            Cheers,

Suspect blow by, so Checked an oil pickup yesterday, all clear.

These Injectors have done around 15,000k. Readings are ok, but rough idle.
So we pulled them, even with a clear pickup, the blow by has started early.
Gotta be super clean before pipe removal to prevent contamination.

                              No4 stuck.

Like usual ports must be clean as!

                              Use only genuine parts/washers.

Are you suggesting, then, that a bit of crap was left behind and the seat was not able to seal properly?

If that's the case, would one reasonably expect Tojo to reassemble with surgical cleanliness?
