  • Problems fitting Hayman Towbar to Prado 150 MY14

    G'day,
Today I began putting a Hayman 02910RW Towbar Kit on my MY14 Prado
The bar fitted beautifully but when I went to fit the flat 7 pin plug on the bracket it seemed that the bracket was in the wrong place as the plug would not fit between the bracket and bumper bar support.
I even tried bending the bracket downward but there is still not enough room for the plug

I think the bracket needs to be moved 60mm towards the centre of the car.

I have written to Hayman and will phone them tomorrow.

Has anyone else had this problem ?

I had the same problem with the HR bar fitted to my 2013 Update Prado. Hardings fitted my bar and they attached the plug directly on to the rear plastic bumper bar rather than use the bracket which initially I was not happy about. But the bracket is just not suitable in its location.

I haven't towed very much at all to test the long term viability/strength of attaching it on to the plastic bumper but so far so good. It has been on for approx 2 years. If it comes apart in the future I will make up an 'extension' steel plate for the plug to go on and then attach it with bolts to the HR bracket.

      Thanks for the update David
Because I am fitting the bar myself I am going to take it off return it to HR and ask them to rectify it.
I didn't want to fit the plug to the plastic bar either and bought the HR towbar especially to avoid cutting as is the case with the genuine Toyota one

This is mine. Bracket has definitely been bent down, plug base mounted upside down.

          Cheers, Will.
