Hi all. I'll keep this as short as I can . Looking for info or similar experience with this. Was 120 k down the Hay river track 2 weeks ago , lost all power and came to a sudden stop. Restarted engine via second battery and all seemed well . 2/3 k further low oil light came on so shut engine down . Checked oil levels and signs of leaks , but was all good. Restarted and continued for another couple of k. Low oil AND high oil temp light came on so once again shut everything off. Then stranded for 6 days with rain ect. Finally towed out by Jol Flemings guys back to Alice Springs... Yep 500 k with no power steering or brakes. Two mechanics seemed to have the same conclusion , a grabbed bearing. Car still starts but shuts down after a few mins. 150 tho on the clock and serviced religiously every 10 tho. Waiting for the car to arrive back in Melb via truck . Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated . Probally looking at a new engine.

Have you read the various Diesel engine threads in the diesel section? If not grab a coffee and have a read. Then you might feel like a beer. Or three. My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Blocked oil pick up maybe? We were in the Simpson 3 weeks ago. Feel for ya, stuck in the rain. Had a quick run up the Hay River track from Popple corner, bout 20km only, looking for a diversion track around the clay pan at 1am in the morning, to get behind the other 2 vehicles traveling with us, to pull them out.. missed the turn next to the clay pan in the dark. Found it when the sun came up, after the job was done.. sorry for ranting on.. check out "old grey farts" thread.. he suffered a blocked oil pick up... hope you get it sorted. Cheers
