  • 150,000km service costs

    Hello All

    my 2011 KDJ150R has ticked over 150000kms

Has any one in SA recently had this done and what would i expect to pay?

Have always taken to the dealer i bought it from for all servicing and cant complain about the service.

    Cheers

This a big and expensive service if done through a dealer. Expect a quote pushing $2k. Regular service plus timing belt plus rear fuel transfer pump. The rear pump cost is $800-$900 alone but you can ask them not to do it which will save you $1k as it's not a really critical item. As worst you lose the sub tank use. My local dealer didn't hesitate to tell me this info when I got a quote for the 150k service. Perhaps it's because I nearly fainted

Toyota charge liked a wounded bull for the timing belt and idler when the job is very straight forward even using genuine parts. When the belt is off, the water pump should be inspected and this should be really be changed and is an added expense. Once again, it's very straight forward. Any decent mechanic can handle this with ease. I'm no mechanic but have done this myself over the years and more recently on my Kakadu. This engine has been designed to make this particular task quick and easy.

Genuine around $120-140. Aftermarket is maybe half that, even less.

Put '1kd timing' into ebay and this should give you a good idea of the costs.

I had toyota and other mechanics tell me the same about the fuel pump. If it ain't broken don't fix it.
I did belt, pulley, water pump and the other sundries required at that service at my local mechanic for well under 1K. Most expensive part was the genuine timing belt/pulley at $340 for the part.

Thanks for that and also to Jimmyc for his input.

Due to my inability I will need to get it done by my mechanic , so will be up for a few bob by the sounds of things.

The petrol doesn't have a timing belt more so a timing chain which is designed for life of the engine as far as I know. Someone else here may have better info.

Hey guys I'm just coming up to 150k and am looking at the cost of this fuel transfer pump, is it really necessary to do it or not. Seems like alot for something that still works.

Not necessary to replace it, even the toyota techs advise not doing it unless it fails. Very expensive and not required.
