I'm just wondering what other real alternatives there are to a Prado...
I've been test driving, the Isuzu MU-X neither my wife or myself consider to be a real alternative to the Prado.
Heard too many negative stories about Jeeps to consider buying one, so that pretty much excludes them...Same with Ford Everest.
The Fortuner Crusade, as much as we like the exterior, don't like that brown interior. And if you are paying 65K for a car, I think a nice interior should be an option.
We have even looked at Subaru's, but for those times we want to go offroad, they would not take us there (Fraser Island etc).
Any other options people can think of?
Rich.

Looks like there will be some minor updates in August. Translated from japanese, it looks like pre-collision auto brake assist, new steering wheel controls, instrument panel and no changes to the exterior.
There seem to be other options added but who knows if Toyota AU decides to tick those boxes...

"There is a substantial update coming to the Prado for 2018, allegedly. Expect similar for GX/4Runner. I am not sure if this is going to be later this year as 2018 model year or in 2018 as 2019 model year, but I expect the latter.
Toyota has a new modular body on frame architecture as part of their TNGA philosophy (TNGA-F) that has delayed redesigns for all BOF products. The Land Cruiser 300 series will be the first vehicle on this new platform (with new Dynamic Force engines) but not before 2019. Other BOF products (Tundra, Sequoia, Tacoma, Hilux, etc.) will receive redesigns on this platform after the Land Cruiser."
This is an extract from a 4runner forum. Which shares same chassis as prado.
