Anaconda have a Boxing Day Sale going and they have a super bargain on the 50L Spinifex fridge/freezer, only $399.

Includes the insulated cover to according to the page I linked above.

They also have gas bottle fills, $15 for a 9kg cylinder. You have to check if your local store has that service though, not all do.

Sadly that's all that fridge is worth (even with the cover thrown in). They're sold by many stores but re-branded for each. I bought the exact same one branded as an Evakool from a TJM store for $800 5 yrs ago. The bloody thing only lasted 2 years and a couple of weeks before it stopped refrigerating below 10 degrees. Awesome fun when you're a long way from home off the beaten track and it can't keep your drinks and food cold. It was well looked after in that time too, kept clean and stored carefully inside the home when not in use. Don't pay more than $400 for it and don't expect it to last. I still have it and have tried it a few times since then and it'll refrigerate well in the dead of winter but not when it's any warmer. In the warmer months I even tried draping a wet towell over the top of it to try and help but it made no difference.
They're claiming 1.5 Amps power draw, but my real world usage in Qld was between 2-3.5 Amps per hour when refrigerating with an inside temperature between 2 and 4 deg.

Ironman stores have been selling this rubbish piece of crap re-branded for years too.

I recently regassed my cheap fridge and now works as good as new. Most of the ratings (eg this one says 1.5 A per hour) refer to an average over 24 hrs. So assuming it use 3 amps while running and runs 50% of the time the average is 1.5. Mine is an Evakool bought from BCF about 3 yrs ago

    Ps. For entertainment purposes only.

Can't comment on the longevity as I have a Waeco myself, was just putting it up there for those on a budget. You see these fridges under a lot of different brand names, I'm assuming they all come out of the same factory.

So you've got the refrigeration licence and the equipment to regas compressor fridges then? Would be handy... But that is the first I have ever heard of anyone actually having to regas a 12v fridge. I didn't want to pay at least half of my fridge's overall value in trying to diagnose the issue alone, and then possibly having to pay extra for a new part. If both our fridges used up the gas in such a short amount of time then that's a BAD thing. There must be a leak in the system surely. But if it's as simple as regassing then I'll surely look into it.

The amp hours I mentioned were over a 24hr period but our weather in Qld is a bit different then yours in Vic. 2 Amps on average in cooler months and 3.5 Amps in summer months. But if it wasn't running as efficiently as it should've from the beginning then that would explain a thing or two. When I spend $800 on a 50L fridge I expect it to work that's all. I don't care if it's cheaper than the Weaco's and Engel's, it's still got to work, and giving up the ghost after 2 years is not a good thing.
