    MINIMUM VEHICLE / SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Every vehicle attending must have these

    Tyres

The Gibb River Road is famous for its sharp rocks and has a bad reputation for shredding tyres. You should make sure that all your tyres (including any spares) have at least 75% tread on them.
All terrains are the preferred tyre and we strongly recommend them.
Road tyres can be ok if in new condition but I wouldn’t trust them. Muddies tend to flick a lot more rocks and have more punctures in dry conditions.
The eastern end of the Gibb consists of a grey shale like substrate that is very hard on tyres.
You should take at least one spare tyre each for your vehicle and trailer (if you are towing) and they should be in excellent condition. An extra spare can be a good idea.

    COMMUNICATIONS

Each vehicle will need to be equipped with or carry a UHF radio. We recommend a 5w unit and a good aerial, securely mounted (we found that our ARB bar moved way too much and just destroyed our aerial, so it is now mounted on a bracket with the spare wheel). We will advise which channel at the start of the GTG.

    FIRST AID KIT

A good first aid kit able to deal with burns, cuts, grazes and sprained ankles.
Don’t forget to bring a good supply of any prescription drugs that you require.(It’s a long way between pharmacies out there!)

    FIRE EXTINGUISHER

    AIR COMPRESSOR AND TYRE GAUGE

    RECOMMENDED

    SHOVEL

    TYRE PLUG KIT

Don’t worry if you’re unsure how to use them. There will be plenty of folk along who do and I’m sure a demo will be done somewhere!
There are several places along the Gibb River Road that do tyre repairs.

    WORK GLOVES

    RECOVERY KIT

Not that we’ll be doing any real 4WDing but you never know.
    Can't we just keep travelling?

Well I can confirm that we are compliant with these requirements.

We have just refilled and updated our first aid kit so all good there. Tyres shouldn't be an issue as a new set goes on just before we leave. We will be running Bridgestone as they seem to handle what we throw at them.

I've just upgraded to Yoko's A/T LT, but will have two spares with me (rear and roof).

On my shopping list as well is a spare hub for the camper.

Ha Ha. You know me, always prepared to be the butt of humour. As long as it keeps everyone amused.

$25,000 spent so far on bits and pieces. Still no car.

Canopy almost finished. Doors and mudguards have already been painted. Should be enough room inside for all my grog and a swag for the GTG.

                  Looks good!

Doing a "All4Adventure" build? Should we expect a cooking lesson every night?

Minimum vehicle requirement is that you actually have a vehicle!

Dave, you could always put some wheels on that canopy and attach a lawn mower motor.....not sure if you'd keep up tho!

I don't think the Hyundai 130 is going to cut it.
