Which is correct as long as illegal modifications havent been made to the Euro5/6 vehicle to negate its emisions systems.

Wonder how long it will be before insurance companies start refusing to pay up because the vehicles engine has been illegally modified? Easy way out for them in the event of a serious accident thats going to cost them big money. Of course they wouldnt do that would they?

Not sure if the law allows them to deny a claim due to the vehicle having modified emissions equipment unless that is directly related to the accident.

I want back all that air VW killed with the years of shonky false emission claims
On the back of that they are now the world largest car seller

It's worth researching exactly how a DPF works and what the burn does. This reference is a starter: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel_particulate_filter
The section on health effects is worth a read, it suggests that the finer particles from the burn may actually penetrate the lungs easier than normal soot, let alone that you have to burn more diesel to achieve the result.
Looks like I am going to be buried in my KZJ95. :-)

I guess the best way to check is for someone who has made these emission modifications to ring their insurance company and tell them that they have blocked the egr, electronically defeated its operation, by-passed the dpf and just for future owners of Euro 6 Prado's also runing a module to shut down the SCR AdBlue system and see
what they say. I'm sure they will say its all Ok and there will be no issues in the event you need to make a claim?

What I'm asking, what sort of laws allow sale of new diesel cars without dpf alongside one with dpf. Isuzu for example?
People tend to ignore unfair laws.

So it is too much to ask for people to comply to the law. Richie you should of Brought a Dmax if you didn't want to run with the emission system that Toyota fitted . Shannon's will cover you for illegal mods provided they aren't a contributing factor to the accident Ive been told by them before.
I got myself some Big Horn Maxxis and was telling my landrover lover mate he said what size did you get I told him 265/75/16 he said I didn't know they came that small.

Current Isuzu don't have DPF. New model will have one when release in march.
Will I buy it ? Short answer is nooo....
The point is the euro5 style low (ADR/04) in Ausralia Implementation is 1 November 2016.
So the Question is if my new Prado was made before, will it be illegal with DPF removed?
I have been driving toyota cruisers for over 20 years and never had any issues, until first regeneration of DPF on my new Prado.
The smell in cabin made my wife sick and I was told to do something about it.Or go on Cape York trip alone next year.
                    Wishful thinking for some.
I was told by my toyota dealer today that the smell will get better with time? Will it ?
I appreciate all comments and advice on this matter. Thanks

without trawling the internet myself, do any of the tech heads on here know of any other car manufacturer's system that negates the use of a dpf for alternate technology/devices?

i suppose the obvious option is to purchase these vehicles new and keep them only for the manufacturers warranty period. at least that way any dpf issues are covered by the manufacturer and aadditonally make sure you have RACQ (or equivalent) Ultra Premium top of the line tow service as a backup for a failure.

Its not on for a young petrol head to remove the emission controls off his commodore why is it ok for a dirty diesel to overide the emission controls the engineers at the factory fitted it with to make it comply to the rules. Why do you blokes think you don't have to comply to the emission rules? What does an honest rwc bloke say about disconnecting or restricting the emission controls?
Hi, i am concerned with the air we breath too but cannot afford a new dpf prado, i am looking for a mechanic somewhere that can add a dpf to my dirty diesel 2012 prado.

You will get denied. Your car is non-compliant, ergo unroadworthy, ergo your registration is invalid, ergo you are uninsured. There is no black and white here - at all.

I'm waiting on a hi-flow DPF to be manufactured in Aus for the Prado then I'm jumping over into that camp

Whilst i respect your opinion, the problem with it is we only need one example where someone had a claim approved with non compliant modifications in place.
