  • 4wd supa centre spotties- how to mount them?

Bought some 4wd supa centre spotties- and am going to mount them on my ARB steel bar( which has three holes on either side of the bar where you would traditionally mount the winch controller)- unfortunately the holes don't line up- only the major hole in the bracket not the other two ( the bracket has 3 holes).
so....has anyone just used the single hole to mount these before and is that stable enough? Or have people drilled out the bracket to match the existing holes in the bullbar?
Or do people just go f$$k it and get a couple tek screws out.....
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

I'll mount them on the weekend and take a photo. Bloke at work reckons if you drill holes in your bullbar it invalidates your insurance. I'm pretty sure thats BS but its got me a little worried about drilling more holes....

2 extra holes per side 10mm voids the insurance. Weird. Anyway. clay dont have the close pics but do have some while i took doing installation. Just one thing if you have sensors on bar just make sure there is no wire underneath while making holes. learnt it hard way. :-)

Hope this gives you an idea. Cheers

Supa Centre spotties: Wiring Harness recommendation?

I need to buy a harness for the 9 inch units. Any recommendations please?

I don't get the whole "invalidates your insurance" statement that comes up over and over again. If, say, you're driving along the highway, have a blowout and crash sideways into a tree there would not be a single thought given to whether you had some extra holes in your bullbar. If someone runs up the back of you, your insurance is no invalid because your driving lights are positioned too high or not in pairs, etc., etc., etc..

There are a million other scenarios like this where you have some non-standard aspect on your vehicle (tyre size, driving lights, extra holes in bullbar, etc.) which would not have any contribution whatsoever to the cause of an incident that you make an insurance claim on.

Usually the units come with wiring kit. But you can buy from repco/autobarn/supercheap any shop who sell the lights for 4wd. Harness come with relys n switch.

The lights and harness were a package deal from 4wdsupercentre, I have the same problem with the holes on my new ARB Bar...

Yes, that way you'll be able to re-use the tek screws after the lights have long since departed from the bar down some lonely outback track.

Hahahah i think the lights will be ok. You'd be surprised what i have tek screwed.... ;-)

Yeah the insurance thing sounded like BS to me but i have no evidence to the contrary ,then i started thinking about insurance companies and how they will do anything to get out of paying you , blah blah.
Bugger it i'll drill some holes.

The post 14 version has 3 holes each side, my SunYee branded 9" rounds bolted straight on, was pretty stoked with that !

I just used a single bolt on mine. I ended up swapping the supplied bolts for High Tensile bolts with locking nuts as Stainless bolts can become brittle over time , especially with a lot of off road driving.

I drilled extra holes in the lights mounting bracket, not the bar.
And for the wiring harness you get with the lights, the plugs didn't fit for me, that go into the headlight sockets. Ended up just cutting the plugs off and soldering the wires. Otherwise the wiring harness was good.
