  • Titan Rear Drawer Install

    Hi guys.

Drawers arrived last week so going to install them later tonight here in Perth when it cools down a bit.

For this that have installed them already, did you have to remove the carpet to access the rear seat tie down points to secure the drawers? I was thinking of cutting a small section of the carpet to access in the inward bolt holes to secure the drawers.

    Cheers

      Hello boys,
Just installed my Titan drawers in my 120 ,
What I had to do was check all the bearings, some were loose some were jammed with the wrong washers jamming the bearings, the supplied bolts are the wrong thread , and I had to lift mine by 10 mm so you will need longer bolts,( laminated floor board strips ) if you don't the wings are to high won't sit down flat , the wing brackets on the LHS looking from the back I had to pack out with 3washers so the fridge slide and drawer would move , the bracket on the back LHS I had to cut a piece out so the drawer would go past it , I did have to snip the carpet to access the bolt holes just used tin snips and folded the carpet under pull out a bit of felt so it goes under, had a fair bit of filing on the frame slots to locate properly or re drill more holes.
It took me some time to finally get them right the advert is all bull it took me hours , had to file out the catch hole after I put the stoppers on but got fed up taking the drawers in and out so used ny angle grinder on the catch part had to take a few mm off.
Anyway there ok now but the fridge slide doesn't pull out even.
Let me know how you get on and any questions.
      Cheers Alan.

      PS
the roof platform is another story front brackets don't bolt down horizontal and you need to put more washers to move it from the roof plus longer bolts,
Another headache but the prices are good.

I put Titan drawers in my 120 GX. I did not lift mine up to properly fit the wings so I was able to use the original bolts. I cut the carpet a little for one row of bolts. I only bolted down one row, hope that is enough!
There is a good you tube video of an install, main message I got from that was to loctite all the bolts to survive corrugated roads.
I think the wings are a waste of space for storage of oddments down the side. Everything works ok. Great value!

Fair comment but I got mine in the deal, they have specials from time to time.
and they do come out quite quick for storing the things you need but don't use that often and out of sight, storage is just the same.
          Cheers Alan.

Hi - thanks for the feedback.

I got half way through and after a few hours had to stop! Not sure if I like using the front and rear (3rd row seat points as there is not much space, but a lot of overhang at the end of the drawers. Might have to pack them out or utilise the rear factory tie down points and get some additional bolts to fit the factory holes. Another trip to the store......

Apart from that the drawers seems to work fine. Haven't installed the wings yet so not sure if I need to pack up the drawers some more to make them sit nice and even along the back.

Persnonally I like the colour of them and they seem good value for money.

Its a shame that they don't fit perfectly first time. Those ones are supposed to be designed specifically for the Prado. It makes you wonder about the quality of the whole design.

Mine are arriving today and it sounds like they are rather fiddly to get right. Are you supppsed to use the 3rd row seat points or are there other bolt holes under the carpet to use?

All bolts lined up perfectly, fridge slide works as expected, and all bearings roll normally and smoothly.

                      Perhaps I got lucky.
I would say you got lucky,
You have to use the bolts that hold the brackets, just cut a bit of the carpet back you will see then quite easily.
I had some filing on the supports to get a good fit but all good now.

Well I reckon there is either differences between Prado 120's (mine is an '08 model) or the Titan design had changed slightly as my Titan drawers did not go in that easily.

What holes do you use to mount the drawers to the floor?
The 2 tie down points near the 2nd row of seats but what about near the rear door.
The tie down points are outside of the drawers?
Di you all leave the carpet in? or replace with 12mm ply to build up?
                          Thanks
                          Brad

                            Hey guys,
I've just joined the forum after picking up a 120 V6 over the weekend.
Just wondering if anyone has installed only one of the sides of the Titan drawers?
With 4 kids to cart around I'm only going to be using one of the seats in the back and was thinking of installing a single drawer on the other side for storage.
                            Has anyone done this before?

                            Thanks

                            Marty

When the drawers are secured will it allow the second row of seats to recline to their lowest point and can you slip something in behind them in that little wasted space?
