Yeah brown Davis make them to suit the Kakadu having myn fitted this Thursday
They seem to be the pick as they hug the contours of the underbody which add strength and clearance also a 4 pce kit from memeory

A while ago I wanted to figure out what the difference in appearance was between the newer "facelift" version and the older "non-facelift" version of the 150 Prado. I figured most of it out. Then yesterday I parked next to one at work. So here's the comparison to save someone else who might be trying to see it. Two black 150 Prado's. Facelift is on the left, and my non-facelift is on the right. And a black Hilux in the background to top it off - lot's of Toyota 4WD's in the work carpark!

I've been thinking about whether to do a bull bar or just a nudge bar. Kind of in two minds but leaning towards just a nudge bar. Interested in thoughts on nudge bar options on the Kakadu. I've had a look at this nudge bar pictures thread which is great - http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...ictures-thread.

          In particular, looked at:
          - TJM high loop - picture posted by VeeZeeSS (post 1)
          - TJM low loop pictures - Jeffers car (post 5)
          - ECB high loop pictures - posted by VeeZeeSS (post 2) but I think came from ECB website, and also on Grant Currey's Kakadu (post 39)
          - ECB low loop pictures - from their website
          - Toyota pictures - Vasilako's car (post 54 and 56)

I actually like the TJM high loop the best but it looks like it'll interfere with parking sensors.

I'm after something that won't interfere with parking sensors, radar cruise control, or front camera. I'm ok with blocking the camera a bit, but want it to have at least some coverage still. Ideally with a light bar or spotlights in place too which might be a big ask.

At the moment I'm leaning towards the ECB high loop bar. Will be looking to fit some lights, and it also needs to fit with front recovery points (possibly roadsafe).

Particularly interested in any thoughts from Kakadu owners out there who've got nudge bars or spent some time looking at them.

If anyone has pictures showing the field of view of the Kakadu front camera, taken though a nudge bar with lights on it, would really appreciate if you can post them, with some details of what lights are in place.

Our Prado Kakadu has had more than it's fair share of testing out of the various pre collision safety systems lately - thankfully not getting to crumple zones and air bags. Not sure what's going on, but ever since we bought this car people seem to want to try to run into us or pull in front of us. In just a few months there's now been 3 instances where we've had to stop really suddenly to avoid an accident. The Prado has been fantastic, much better than either my wife or I had expected. She came home raving about it this week after a near miss where someone tried to cut across to avoid going into a tunnel - reckons it's better than our BMW sedan. I'm not sure I can compare that fairly but there's no question that in all 3 cases the Kakadu has made you feel like it was stopping without a drama and that it was controlled the whole way. Thanks Toyota for keeping the family safe!

I have the TJM T15 winch bar on mine. Doesn't interfere with sensors, in saying that I don't think most bars interfere as many of them have positions for the sensors to be moved to. The camera gets blocked pretty badly on the sides, After installing 9" spotties The view was almost entirely blocked. I bought a kit to move mine forward from ARB. I didn't put it where they would put it as I wanted it centered still.

Where did you end up mounting it? do you have any details of the kit? I have the T13 bar on mine and the same issue with the spotties blocking the camera's view.

I got a lesson today. You know the saying measure twice, cut once. Same should apply to think twice, cut once.

I bought some of the Toyota luggage tiedown hooks. Same ones mentioned through http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...d-Kakadu/page8. Expensive hooks (over $300 for 4), but I'm at least happy with what they are. They're neat, underneath they clip into place in the mounting slide meaning they can be moved around easily without need for any tools.

Now for my lesson. I have a Toyota rubber cargo mat in the back. It has slots marked that correspond to the rails the tiedown points mount onto, to make it foolproof to cut out. Photos below show how they can make a better fool...

Point 1 - so I'm an idiot. Cut the whole size of the rail out. Even though the point can only actually be in one position on the rear points.

Point 2 - well why don't I cut it closer rather than cut out the whole rail size, that would make more sense. But still didn't bother to do the job properly did I.

Point 3 - so I'm clearly a slow learner today. Basically did the same again as I did on point 2.

Point 4 - finally got it right, on the last one!

Getting it right - point 4 in open position

Point 1 in open position (showing on the mounting rail)

side profile (point in open position)

side profile (point in closed position)

Dumb hey? Tip for the day, learn from my mistake. Now every time I look at the cargo mat it just annoys me!

Im not sure on the part number for the bracket. The guys at ARB said the camera was the same as the 200 series but it wasnt. I ended up having to open the hole up a bit to fit the camera through it.

It looks good - gets the camera out and clear of the spotties which would do what I need. Do you find the spotties are ok with radar cruise control?

I have a fuel consumption problem. This diesel is starting to feel like my old 120 series petrol!

Hoping it's not indicative of any underlying serious issue. The car is currently at just over 51,000kms on the 3.0L D4D. As of the fill I just did, the consumption according to the dash was 13.9 L/100km. Calculated consumption based on the fill (125L for 821km) is 15.23 L/100km.

I've read the whole diesel fuel economy thread - pretty heavy going. There's various comments about how you can't really compare, but mine is at the absolute upper limit of what anyone in that thread is getting, there's only one or two that have even mentioned similar numbers.

My driving for this tank has been towing a ski boat for the first maybe 100km, then mostly city driving. Car doesn't have any significant fuel impacting mods other than the Pioneer roof platform and Sunseeker awning. Bridgestone D697 tyres. My driving is probably somewhat heavy footed sometimes but I'd be stunned if many others weren't driving their cars as hard or harder.

Any thoughts on how much I should be worried about this being indicative of a more serious issue?

                              pricks

Wondering who I've pissed off lately...

This is my 120 Grande on Saturday morning. I'd left it parked on the street as we've got three cars at present until I sell it (which I've been slack doing), and only have room for two in the carport.

This is my 150 Kakadu on Sunday morning. I'd left it parked on the street as I had to bring the 120 undercover so it wouldn't get rained on through the smashed window.

Two separate smashed Prado windows in two days. Not happy at all! So unfortunately I'm adding "replacing a rear cargo window" to the rig build on the Kakadu.

Did they take anything from either Prado? Were any other cars in the street hit as well? In any case it's at least criminal damage and should be reported to the Police. Perhaps one of your neighbours has CCTV footage that may show who was in the street or near your cars at the time of the incidents.

It sucks whoever did it, window glass like that can be expensive to replace.
