  • New Prado 120 owner :-)

    Hey everyone!

So excited for the Prado life! So my father in-law decided to trade up to a new prado so i thought I may as well take his old on off his hands. Which I got for a nice price! Only had one slight problem....... Yep bit noisy and blowing some white smoke in the morning and after been sitting for a while. So i cleaned out the shed and in she went. Off came the bash plate and out came the sump plug, started pulling the inter cooler etc i decided to drop the sump and there is was clear as day a very very dirty oil pick up. clean the carbon out of it! man i love carby cleaner! Then back up top and pulled some very very stubon injectors that were covered in carbon, gave them a nice clean and then set about cleaning the injector bores. removed the seals from the bores... Brass ones, now all clean, fit the new seal kit that i brough, put it all back together(including the oil pick up and sump), fired it up for the first time. Smoke everywhere!! To be expected with that much brake clean in the cylinders. Took it for a short drive and checked the oil no leaking fuel from the inlet pipes! Went out in the morning started with no problems at all and not a hint of smoke!

I am very happy with this vehicle thus far and look forward to putting alot of ks on it!

Thats my story so far, it came to me stock so looks like bullbar, lift kit etc and alot of other goodies.

    Cheers Travis

Nice pickup Travis. You must have some mechanical mindset.

Good to hear it has all come together for you.

How many km on it out of interest and did it have a good service life?

"The Prado life" is quite exiting, never boring
Just this morning I was thinking about the many really good people I have met since the Prado life.
Very rewarding "the Prado life", great experiences with great people, whether its on trips, in the workshop or at a steak night.
Good find, glad you found the problem before it was too late, there is a few engines around lately that didnt find the blow by in time, engine failure! Not genuine copper washers either, they were brass.
How did you know to check the oil pickup & remove injectors?
