My steering wheel has started making a clicking/knocking sound.
I searched and found a few topics on knocking from the steering. Most seemed suspension related though, and after sticking my head in the footwell I'm pretty sure this is coming from the wheel itself (or just behind it). I searched for the circlip mentioned in other posts but I can't see one on mine, might need to remove more panels to get to it though. It's a 2010 GXL with tilt and extend on the steering column.
Video is here: https://youtu.be/R-PI6tQyy0s
It's much louder in the video than in real life for some reason, but it's definitely noticeable when driving. It's just loud enough that it's driving me nuts actually
It knocks when I put upwards/downwards pressure on the wheel. Doesn't matter what I'm doing, turning, braking, driving straight etc. If I unclip the steering adjustment and drive around it's fine (slowly, in a carpark).
Any thoughts before I take it to my mechanic?
Cheers
