I have read heaps of threads on catch cans, EGR valves, blanking plates etc, but was wondering of the experiences of those 1kd Prado owners who have not done the modification and when the build up was to the extent that it needed cleaning. Our Prado 1KD 3lt motor has done 70,000km. We have a Jayco caravan that is nearly to the weight limit of 2.5 Tonnes and tow it for several thouand kilometres during the cooler months of the year and apart from that the trips are generally fairly short. Any personal experiences appreciated. Brian DJ

Hard to know Brian, from reading other threads the build up seems to vary. I would imagine that a lot of short trips wouldn't help. Mine has just clocked over 107k and I'm getting #### to do an EGR clean, blanking plate and new injectors in April so I will soon find out how bad mine is. So far I've had a mixed bag in terms of driving but lately there has been a lot of short trips in amongst some long freeway stuff (maybe once every 6 weeks). I've done a little bit of towing over time but not normally as heavy as yours except one trip to country NSW towing a dual axle trailer full of furniture helping family move house.
Once #### is finished I'm then considering trani fluid flush but still trying to find someone in Sydney I can trust to do it!2010 150 Glacier White GXL D4D Auto
