      Hi Nick,

when you do the service, a great mechanic friend told me to use semi-synthetic oils in the entire drive train. He says it makes the oil seals last twice as long.
I also use the highest grade grease I can get ( the one they use in earth moving equipment ) to lube the driveshaft.

You will not imagine just how much 'nicer' this makes the car to drive. Everyone that gets into it remarks on how smoothly it goes for an 'old 4WD'.

If you plan to service it yourself, invest in an oil pump, you will get the benefit of it

On the filters, I once has a non-genuine Prado oil filter split open and dump all the oil in the gutter, but only that once in 38 years of motoring have I had a problem with an aftermarket filter. What did we do to it - 1100 km in one go, Noosa to Sydney in a single day with 2 drivers; and we got from Gold Coast to Newcastle on the fill of fuel. Toyota thought that's what killed the filter, the looooonnnnggggg run without a break for refuelling.

        Hi
OK something to keep in mind, whats the name of the grease you use?

i have never had an issue with aftermarket filters but after all the research i have done im going to stick with genuine Toyota throughout, the only filter i will use that will be ryco is the cabin filter. for piece of mind im happy to pay that bit extra especially when you buy them all at once from Phil Gilbert Toyota on eBay they do awesome pricing

Well left Spring sure on Friday afternoon around 1600 and arrived home at 1100 on Saturday morning and that was taking a number of detours due to flooded roads which was fun, thankfully got it home in 1 piece and no major damage from Roo's. Only hit 5-6 worse damage was the fog light cover cracked but plan on swapping to a deluxe bar one day in the future so i can live with that.

I have heard so many people complain about the power in the 150 Prado but i am genuinely shocked it goes really well and can only imagine how well it would pull a camper or van.

I wanted to look at the spare Tyre and what a pain to remove the spare wheel cover, i took it off and will leave it off. i know not many people like the look without it (my partner) but i dont mind it look OK and easier to access. Will get some photos up shortly

Dradyz thats a good looking Prado. I especially like the dark tint. Will be looking to swap over the tint on mine soon as it's got a light tint which doesn't do much.
                  Have you installed the pre-filter?

It is a dream to drive, certainly no v8 but very surprised with the power it does have. Only downside it loves to sit on 120km so i constant eye on my speedo is necessary.

Yep one trip, over 19-20hrs driving in regional QLD and NSW not to bad. i would have seen a good 200-300 roo's if not more over the entire trip thankfully most had the brains to head away from the road.
