  • Finally a Prado Owner.........

    Hi All
Name is Nick i'm from central west of NSW in a town known for a certain race track........

Have been a member of PP for a little while and have always dreamt of one day owning a Prado however luck or money never seemed to be on my side until now, recently sold my VE SS and thought bugger it i'm getting a Prado. Many days/ weeks searching and found many nice looking 120's but the price seemed to be top dollar and most sellers were not willing to budge on price.

Week after week i would enquire on many Prado's with the same outcome and then i came across a 150. The kms were a little high but otherwise great condition, contacted the owner who is a top bloke who says it how it is and no beating around the bush. A week later finance has been approved and a plane ticket booked.

A plane ticket you ask? Yes did i forget to Mention the car was in QLD near emerald........ anyway got it for a good price with good service history and get to know the car better on my 1400km drive home, my partner, boss and colleges think i'm crazy going to all the effort that i am but i dont think so.

Car has ARB bull bar, brush rails and side steps with a couple of light force spotties, it has 173,000 Km's and is up to date on all services. Today i have purchased a provent 200 and fuel manager for it and very eager to install. Also bought myself Techstream for codes and feedback on the injectors

I would love to give it a full service and replace all filters once i get it home on the 1/4/17 but were do i get the part numbers so i can source genuine parts at a cheap price other than Toyota? i prefer not to start a war about genuine and aftermarket filter however for personal reasons i prefer genuine.

Anyways glad to finally have a post on here about my own soon to be prado and look forward to interacting you guys alot more.

    Regards
    Nick

Nick looks good, a GX is my preferred model. You have plenty of great spots to get out and explore from your home town, Before moving north I spent a lot of my time out that region for both work n play.
Regards buying sight unseen, I have done similar for a ute and our van, but I say be prepared to turn around and walk away if it is not what you expected.
New 2015 150s GX 5 seater with floor mats, towbar and a big wish list
Previously a 2004 120s 1KZ GX silver manual with stuff
before that a 1996 RV6 90S with lots of gear

It would be exciting to fly somewhere to pick up a car without laying eyes on it beforehand. Then learning all about it on the way home.
I've got a friend who sold his Subaru WRX STI many years ago in Brisbane. It was about 10 years old and only had 30,000km on it. Spent most of its life sitting in the garage not being driven because he had a work car that he always drove. He kept it for sentimental reasons really. He had it on the market for ages at $32,000. Then one day out of the blue a young fella from Townsville called up interested, asked a few questions and offered $20,000. Well my friend sold it to him (with a little nudge from his girlfriend to help him get rid of it). The young buyer flew down to Brissy a couple of mornings later which was his first trip there, caught a cab to my mate's house from the airport and drove the car home to Townsville the same day proud as punch.

        Hi
Yer I prefer the Basic model I don't need any fancy gear, apparently there are some beautiful spots around here so I can't wait to get out and explore it.

Should have mentioned that the finance company has organised a pre vehicle inspection and then I am organising my own some may say it's not necessary but it's cheap insurance.

Very exciting indeed, but someone nervous. Never been to QLD before would of love to have a bit of a look around but once I get the prado I can start looking for new holiday spots.

With my job we do service Walgett to Young right up to Lithgow so we do a little driving most days so really looking forward to the trip home, shame it will be dark when going through some of the towns on the way back. Anyways always next time

Gratz on the purchase. The trip will be a blast. I regularly drive outback Qld roads when going home to visit my parents. A bit of advice for driving out west is to not drive at dawn/dusk if it can be helped. Kangaroos out that way are bad during those times.

Thanks Buddy, i agree i think it will be an awesome drive home and i have approx 14 hours to think of the mods id like to do and reasons why they are needed (Partner). I hope not to be doing to much driving through those hours if i dont have to, have the whole weekend to get home so should be good.

Well been busy at work but both inspections came back good, finance has been approved and paid. Flights booked and ready to go only 2 days left of work and 4 off, ive had a few parts turn up over the last week or so.

                      - All genuine Toyota filters (air, fuel x2, oil etc..)
                      - MH Provent 200
                      - Fuel manager pre filter
                      - EGR Plate

Plenty to do and bugger all time to do it, will try to post up some pics when i get it back.

When and where are you flying into. Plenty of cq airports shut now and may well be some road closures around emerald as the remnants of the cyclone head down that way.
1997 petrol auto, 430 000km. Still going strong.
2004 petrol auto, 233 000km. Cracked dash and no help from Toyota!

                          Looks good.

                          Hope you enjoy it.

I have a 2016 Prado Kakadu and now that I have spent lots of $$$$$$$ getting it the way I want it, I am pretty happy with it.

I chose the 4000 V6 as, like you, previously owned high performance cars so wanted something with a bit of grunt.

Sure uses lots of fuel but as I lease it, I'm not too worried about that.

I previously had a 2012 Lexus ISF which I bought new but was heading towards killing myself in it so now I am very happy and safe motoring around at the speed limit enjoying the driving and admiring the view.

Hope you get lots of enjoyment from your new Prado.

                          Cheers.

                          David
