  • Set of steelies for a 150 (2015)

I am after a set of steel rims for the Prado (standard size) and tried a number of 4X4 wreckers here in Perth with no luck. I would like to hear from any member who might be able to point me in the right direction. (I can't understand why it is so difficult - are these things rare as hens teeth?)

    Regards

Are you after factory steelies? If so, they don't exist.

Only the 120 series had factory steel rims. And they don't fit legally on the 150.

Did you have any luck finding steel rims the same dimensions as the factory alloys? I am also wanting to find some rims same dimensions as the factory alloys for my camper and as a second spare.
        Thanks Mark

I bought some Sunraysia 17 inch black steel Rims from Bob Jane a couple of years ago for my trailer with the same stud count, PCD and offset for my Prado to make them interchangeable. They had to order them in but were readily available ex Perth. I remember there were a few offsets available in the 17 inch size. From memory they were a shade over 100 bucks each and could be in either white or black.

Macro thanks for that info. Did you manage to get the same off set and rim width? Looking on Dynamic site they have 17" x 8" with the 25 offset. Hopefully these would fit ok?
            Cheers Corny

Yes the Sunraysia wheels were 17x8+25.

The 17s black steel wheels that come on the new mid-spec Hilux and Fortuner are very close to the Prado specs. 17x7.5+30. I wonder if they'll be Ok too as I reckon a lot of people would be swapping these out for alloys so some may appear on Gumtree or second hand at some of the tyre shops.

I had Dynamic brand steel sunraysia wheels and I got rid of them. Weak where the wheel nuts do up, you could see the mounting part flex as you did up the wheel nuts. I was careful and did them up in a few stages so as not to bend them permanently. I rotated them every 5,000klm and they were always loose, even after re-torquing them. I ended up buying some factory FJ cruiser rims, fit perfectly and were only $700 second hand.

                Cheers Brad
