Hi there Gents.
A few weeks ago i was travelling on the Hume on my way back from NSW to Melbourne and prior to travelling on the Hume on some of the back roads i could hear the turbo wind up more then normal one hour into the highway drive all of a sudden the Cruise Control switched off and black and white smoke started coming out from the back and just as i got to the service lane the engine sounded like it was over revving and then a massive continuous knock in the engine until i switched off the engine. The car was towed back to a local town and i had the car diagnosed and they told me that piston 2 has no compression and in their view id need a new engine. The car is a 2010 d4d GX serviced every 10 000 without fail by my mechanic and every 5000kms by me which i change oil and filter etc. I then had the car looked at by my mechanic and he said piston 2 had only 10psi and that he thought my engine was gone as well. Is it possible the engine to seize that easy i always put Caltex Vortex Diesel and look after the car as i do lots of trips to NSW etc. Does anyone know how much another engine would cost and if i should even take it elsewhere maybe to a Diesel expert and see what he says etc. The car has 190.000 kms on it at the moment. What are your thoughts? Ive been told to get a proper answer they'd need to take the engine out and see how bad the inside of the engine is is that correct or should i just save my money and look for a new engine if the outcome is the same etc.
Thank you
