  • Advice on Purchasing a 2008 VX Petrol

I had a look at the "Buying a Prado - what to look out for" thread, but this seems to be mostly relating to the diesel models I think.

I'm interested in a V6 model and will be test driving it ASAP. What should I look out for exactly? And is $26000 for a 2008 VX with under 150k a good price? Through my research on carsales it seems fairly reasonable, but I'd like a second opinion.

    Thanks all

IMHO a VX 2008 V6 auto with full logbook servicing would be a great start (full safety and ATRAC) , check for under body damage, they use a little more fuel but cost less to maintain as long as it was not abused it should be good, plenty of people here have brought higher mileage V6 and have great things to say.

Also don't be surprised to hear engine noise that sounds like a sticky lifter or slight exhaust leak. It is a normal trait of this motor due to the shape of the exhaust manifold. Some do it worse than others and some barely noticeable but can be cured if you fit a set of headers.
