  • Rear brake rotor gasket?

I am looking to replace my rear rotors soon and in my Gregorys manual under the process for rotor replacement it says the following:

16 Mark the location of the disc in relation to the axle hub to aid assembly and withdraw the brake disc from the rear axle flange. Discard the Gasket.

Now I'm gathering this is a gasket on the axle flange but can't find it online to order as it has to be replaced later on when reassembling.

Can someone advise me what I need to be buying?

No gasket, just the rotor straight onto the flange? Weird.. Maybe misinformation.

If you find the rotor doesn't want to come off easily, back the handbrake off a touch on the adjuster.. Makes it a lot easier.

        Thanks Piggy and #############.
The Gregorys manual covers 95 and 120 series 96-09 so maybe it's related to another model?

Anyway I'll get into it on the weekend assuming my rotors show up and we will see how it goes!

Later models also don't have gaskets.. More than likely a furphy..

As piggy said back the handbrake right off. If the shoes catch when you are pulling the rotor off you will stretch the retaining spring and the shoes will grab and rub and wear out in no time.

A little tip that may save the day, assuming your handbrake is backed off and you cannot for the life of you get the rotor off.... Remove two of the bash plate bolts and screw them into opposite holes on the rotor to force it off the hub behind. Screw one on a little, then the opposite one a little and so on. Makes it easy. Keep doing this to the point where you can then pull the rotor off with your hands. Saved me once or twice. If you do lots of beach driving this issue may rear its ugly little head up from time to time during rotor changes.

My Prado did not have any gaskets behind the rotors. When I tried to obtain them they were unavailable. Even though they appear in the manual and on diagrams, I have never seen these gaskets.
