Help with identifying optioned 90 series GXL

So I've recently bought a 2001 GXL and the seller assured me that it has ABS and airbags and aircon. Now Aircon I can feel, that one's easy but I got concerned when no airbag or ABS lights lit up when starting the vehicle.

What's the best way to confirm my suspicions that I've been lied to?
The passenger side has the grab handle and there's no airbag symbol on the steering wheel so I take it that means no airbags?
How do I check for ABS?

Looking at the specs on redbook it looks like abs and airbags are optional extras. My 97 has abs but not airbags. Abs module should be near your master cylinder.

Yeah they were options and the guy assured me he had both options fitted at new as he is the original purchaser.

Abs and airbags were definitely part of an option package unless the model is a Grande V6 or TX diesel which had them as standard. It is my belief that they weren't available as individual options but rather as part of a package.
Airbags were fitted as a pair ie dual airbags.if there is a grab handle and recess ( tissue box size) on passenger side then no airbags and nonABS. To identify the ABS brakes you should get an indicator light on dash when ignition is turned to on without motor going. Also under bonnet next to brake cylinder there should be a cast alloy box with 4 pipes leading from the unit.

Okay so it's definitley not got ABS or airbags though the seller is insisting that it has a driver's airbag.

New question, is it possible to add ABS and what does that entail? Is there a shop in the Brisbane region I could contact for a quote? Toyota themselves?
