Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anybody has any experience with an issue I'm having my the oil light coming on in my 2005 V6 Prado Grange.
Firstly the car runs fine, but after driving for about 3 hours continuously the light will start to flicker and within the next hour it will stay on constantly. If I stop for a while, eg a coffee break, it will stay off for a long period but eventually come back on. The oil level in the car is fine and it doesn't appear to use much oil between 10,000 Klm changes. I've had the sensor replace twice (the 2nd time was a factory part) and although it seems that the issue takes longer to reappear after a change, it has not been fixed.
I had one other issue recently when after driving for about 6 hours (one stop for lunch) I slowed the car from 110 to 60 as I drove through a town and it cut out entirely (oil light had been on and I looked down to find all the warning lights on as the engine had cut out. I restarted the car without problem and stopped in the town for coffee. When I got back in after about 20 minutes all was good (no warning lights) for the remaining 90 minuted drive home.
This engine cut out has only happened the once. The car does not do a lot of long or short trips but on the weekend I drive for 70 mins to an event and returned several hours later with no issues at all. As I'm planning a road trip for a few months over winter I am a little concerned with this issue. The car is due for a minor service so I'm considering taking it to Toyota for this and to see if they can diagnose the problem. Any thoughts on what the issue might be?
Regards
