Turbo compressor cover oil leak

Hi all,

Took my 12 d4d in for the 130k service today, Toyota found an oil leak on the turbo compressor cover, where the factory silicone sealant is.

Their quote is to replace the turbo - 5 grand!

Has anyone here pulled the turbo off and resealed the compressor cover?

I've had a pretty good look on the net and everyone seems to just replace their turbo with a new one?

Have you noticed any performance issues or anything that indicates somethings wrong?

No mate it must be a pretty small leak. I checked the intercooler pipework and the oil seal is fine, just the normal oil smear from crankcase breather. I had a good look and there's no other areas that are leaking oil. Just around the compressor cover sealing face.

Toyota reckon book the turbo in for next 10k service - no rush!

I looked on GCG's website and the fit up gasket kit is $40.

I can't find any information on the net to see if there is an o-ring there or just the red toyota sealant, or both.
