Doesn't in a 120. Can anyone confirm if it's on all the time in a 2011? GX?

It isn't an ex mine vehicle that has daytime running headlight stuff happening is it?

I have a 2013 gx and the tail light indicator light only comes on when you turn the parkers on.

        Cruise control not engaging

Thanks David. Frazzy. Does your tail light indicator turn off when your parkers are off?
Your vehicle isn't a mine spec with headlights on 24/7 is it?

No headlights aren't always on, however when I turn my park lights to off the tail light indicator light on the dash stays on.

I just replaced a park light globe in case that has anything to do with it?

I am starting to think the reason the cruise control isn't working is due to the sensor on the clutch. I have read that if this is faulty it can stop cruise control from engaging.
Does anyone know where this is located and how to fix it?

The switch will be on the clutch pedal similar to the brake light switch on the brake pedal.

Also check the clutch is coming all the way up. I had a similar issue on my Toyota Camry (car before the Prado), where the clutch didn't move fully to the top position. I could put my foot under the clutch whilst driving and lift it up a little bit more and cruise would then engage. Once I used the clutch again I would need to lift it up again. A bit of spray lube resolved the issue when I returned home.

Do you have a link or anything for instructions on locating this switch and how to test if its working or not?
                  Thanks

grab a torch and stick your head under the dash. Use you phone to video it perhaps. Move the clutch pedal with your hand and you'll see how it all operates.

As above and when the pedal is depressed you will be able to operate the switch.

It will also be able to be tested with an active code reader.
This still doesn't explain why your tail light indicator is permanently on. That is another problem.

Got under the dash and had a look, all seemed to be fine but then again I don't really know what I am looking at. Can't find anything on the internet telling me how the clutch sensor works and how it can affect the cruise control.

I think the tail light indicator on the dash is a common thing, see here: http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...674&viewfull=1

Are the your brakes lights all working? I seem to remember that this tail light indicator lamp may also used to indicate a faulty tail light including brake lights. A lot of high spec toyotas in the past had this functionality.

Are you certain the tail light warning came on at roughly the same time the cruise stopped working correctly? If so, look into the brake light issue first.

Also when driving steadily at cruise speed over 40kmh use the back of your foot to pull up the clutch pedal firmly and try to set the cruise. There maybe a little slack in the pedal assembly.

When you say the cruise doesn't engage, do you mean you can turn it on still but it simply won't set. There's a few thing things that stop the cruise setting, like the clutch switch on the the pedal assembly, perhaps brake lights not all working, speed under 40km/h, 4wd condition, gear selection, faulty clockspring in the steering wheel assembly.

The clutch switch is simply fixed mounted under the dash near the clutch pedal arm . When you move the pedal by hand, you should see the pivoting pedal arm strike a small limit switch when the pedal comes towards the rest position. Think of the door switch on a fridge. If the switch doesn't engage properly when you fully release the pedal the cruise won't work. Pressing the clutch pedal when you're driving normally, with the cruise set, would simply drop the cruise off.

                            https://www.google.com.au/search?q=p...h+pedal+switch

I think your over thinking the problem..

In regards to your post about tail light indicators. The post you mention is in regards to a 2013 facelift. Which model we are unsure. But it's not confirmed to be a 2011 GX. Does yours have DRL lights ?

                              Let's make this easier.

1: do you have tail lights and front parkers (on or off?) when Parker switch is on?
2: as above (on or off?) when Parker switch is off and car running?
3: as above when headlights on and car running?
4: when you press brake pedal do you have 2 working brake lights?
                              5: does your horn work?
6: have you checked for and found a cruise control fuse?
7: do you have any type of electronic brake controller fitted? Or any type of accessory/extra brake or tail lights from factory standard?

Once you know above we can progress further..

Your tail light on indicator according to another poster with a GX isn't illuminated all the time.
I know on others I've driven it isn't either. I'm wondering if this is indicating a tail light fault? Of some sorts?

So yes turns out I do have DRL. When parker switch is on, park lights and tail lights are on, when the headlight switch is off, head lights are on therefore it does have DRL so I do not think the tail light indicator light on the dash is related to the cruise not working.

Brake lights are working, horn works, checked all fuses and no electronic brake control fitted.

I guess this leaves the steering wheel column stick, maybe this is faulty. Oh and I tried lifting the clutch up when going >40 km/h but the cruise sill would not activate.
