You won't charge a stuffed battery by using jumper leads from another battery. Looks like a lot of work undertaken without proper fault diagnosis first.

The noise coming from the motor was not a good noise. It wasn't from a bad alternator (Ive been through 5 of those) I did my 3rd alternator crossing Ducie River (Cape York) and drove all the way to Seisai 175klm without any bad noises. Ive snapped a conrod in a motor before (not in a Prado) and understand what a broken motor sounds like. My mate driving with me said he heard a bang before I pulled over. (I pulled over because oil light came on) I believe oil pumps on prados are mechanical not electrical. So electrics shouldn't affect oil.
Again not trying to be smart just giving reasons.
I leave in North Queensland things are expensive up here.
Why pay $100 for tow, $100 for scan gauge, $1000 for alternator, $300 for battery, $2500 for injectors
All things Mechanic will fix and then after all that find out I have a cracked piston.

I don't own the tools you guys seem to own and keep saying to use. I don't have access to them. So while you may just plug your car in to a computer or do a compression test this isn't something I can do.

What I can do is pull off the head and have a look (cost for new gaskets). Im not scared to have a go. I just need opinions of whats is wrong where to look next, Not really interested in "Should have run Scan gauge check" That doesn't help in anyway.

If there is someone in Townsville on here that has a Scan Gauge please speak up.

What I would really appreciate is Help going forward.

Bad Engine noise/Oil light on. HELP!!!

Running a scan will possibly show what it may be.
Most would alleviate the simple cheaper things first.

No one said replace injectors or this or that.

It's more than likely it's hydraulic'd and has blown the bottom end.

You've kind of been jumping all over the place saying squeaking was possibly alternator etc.

At this point now that you've said it sounded like an internal failure of some description, I'd be pulling the engine out now as your committed and strip it completely to find what's at fault.

could it be the balance shaft gears stripped out?

Thanks for the share. I tried to take motor out today but it seems to be catching on something. I thinks the clutch fork throw out bearing thingy is catching. Will see if I can remove and try again tomorrow.

Looks like the bearings for the Balance shaft. So big thanks to Nudgebar for the steer in that direction.
Need to get a rattle gun to remove harmonic balancer and pull of the rest of the front part of motor and see if there is anything else damaged.

Check your counter-balance shaft and gears, ours failed due to a bolt shearing off and destroyed the oil pump gear resulting in no oil pressure

The little sump post #10 Where the oil pick up is
You cant take the whole sump off with the motor in the car. (as far as I could see)

Once I get the Harmonic Balancer off I will get to see any damage in the front part.

Why??? Nothing wrong with it. Spun a bearing.

If the engine has run with a failed bearing, there may be many potential issues. Why would an engine spin a bearing anyway?

Hope you're right. The others in the other thread have replaced their engine.
