        Hi all,

I've now got hold of the following:

Front: Dobinson 302 and Bilstein 238762
        Rear: Dobinson 327 Bilstein 217897

I rang a local place regarding fitting today, it's booked in for tomorrow. The guy at the fitting place asked out of interest what part numbers i was supplied with and was a bit surprised when i told him that I was given 302's for the front of a V6 with only an ARB Deluxe Bar fitted. I asked why this was and he told me that all the 300's have the same spring rate, but the 302's will jack up a V6 very high. When I ordered this setup (from a guy highly recommended on here), I did say that I only had an ARB bar fitted and would be having a winch at some point. I'm not gonna have money for the winch for a while yet (if at all) so am wondering if these springs are going to be ok for the front without that extra weight. I also planned for a set of drawers in the rear but don't have these yet..

Looking around on here, it looks as though a few are running this same setup but with heavier diesel engines, which I expect compensate for the longer springs.

I'm probably overthinking this, but am only wanting to do this once, and speaking to this guy earlier got me thinking. This was however the same guy that recommended A712's, so i'm more inclined to trust the guy i bought the gear from. Does anyone see any problem with the above setup on my V6 with ARB bar only?

        Thanks

          Hey Don,

Being 10mm taller, the 302 will lift roughly 20mm higher than the 300.

I have run 300 coils on my petrol 120 with just a steel ARB bar, and I ran them at around 790mm, perfect ride height to maximise droop.

If your plans around extra weight on the front have changed, I'd see if you can either a) exchange the 302 with a 300 with the people who are doing your fitting, or b) get another circlip groove machined 10mm lower down on your 762's.

Obviously option a) will be cheaper and simpler, but option b) gives you room to move with the extra weight down the track.

Keep in mind that a freshly fitted coil will also take a while to settle to its working height at ride height, so expect your initial ride height to potentially be over 800mm (even with a 300), and to settle over a couple weeks driving.

Hope this gives you a plan of attack for tomorrow!

            Cheers Mark,

I'll see what they can do regarding swapping them over or machining an extra groove for me. Can you see the 302's being ok if a winch is fitted? And conversely, would you reckon on the 300's not being suitable for use with a winch fitted?!

Dobinsons' PDF shows that the 302 are suitable for 35mm lift with bullbar and winch. I run the 302 currently with Sovereign bullbar and winch cradle and get 50mm lift with circlip on the 2nd groove.

Thanks for that, looks ok to run the 302 in that case then? I'd imagine the sovereign bar's a lot lighter than the ARB too?

Sovereign bullbar + winch cradle would come pretty close to being similar weight.

For anyone interested, the suspension is now fitted and is the dog's bol!ocks. We did around 1000kms at the weekend down to Yeagurup and back and I was very pleased with the way the vehicle now handles; solid round bends and roundabouts and gliding smoothly over corrugations. The difference is amazing and any worries I had are now gone. Not that i've tried any others, but i'd highly recommend this setup...

                        Hi all,

i be picking up my 07 V6 GXL later this week and will be doing a few mods asap
one is the lift kit and i think im going to go with
Front C59-302, 24-238762 (steel bar, winch, duel batteries)
rear debating on spring - C59-325/327, 24-217897 (remove seats, drawers)

what do you think or what do you have?
Also where do you source your shocks from?

                        Thanks Tony

                          Hi
Has anyone tried the suspension kit from 4wd supercentre? Mine will need replacing and just starting to look at different options out there. Wondering if they are good or rubbish.

                          thanks
