  • sovereign bullbar bracket question

    Hi all,
I bought a secondhand bar, which came with presumably the pre-recall mounting brackets (pictured). Now I need the fitting kit and brace kit as I dont have those. Toyota only have the post recall parts. For those of you that know, would the new fitting kit (chassis pins, nuts, botls) and braces (that attach to the brackets) be compatible with the old mounting bracket? From what I read, only the middle section of the mounting bracket changed, so it should still be fine.

      Hi
Post recall bracket set is not coming with the chassis pin sets and pins are coming with the bracket fitting kit (PZQ296016ZFK).
Different between Bracket and Fitting kit is Fitting kit is ending up with ZFK and Bracket kit (post recall) is ending up with ZBK.

I brought it from Camberwell Toyota for around $ 135.00.

Give a call to Robin at CW Toyota spare parts and he is a very helpfull.

      Regards,
      Selvan

Killswitch, that would be great, I'll PM my number if MMS is easier. At least I can compare.

          ####, PM sent.

Selvan - thanks, I called South Morang, wow, less than useless.

Killswitch, I cant actually send you message. Maybe you can upload. Really just need to see the pic of the new bracket and how the brace attaches.

                    Thanks Killswitch.
I cant believe the size difference in the recall brackets and originals.
Good thing I dont intend to run a winch.

You could also try and find some at a wrecker where the bar has had some slight damage but the mounts are fine. It is risky though because they might look ok but could be bent.

You could also look at https://www.amayama.com and see if you can get them there cheap.

                        Hi Guys,
This is my first post. I purchased a 2004 VX 12 months ago and can also see that the brackets haven't been upgraded. Looks like the front left fender inside guard has been butchered a bit perhaps when the bull bar was installed in the past as I know the front has to be trimmed a bit when installing the bullbar. I have a couple of additional questions: If I get the brackets upgraded, what would be the cost of adding the winch cradle and inside left guard. And will there be enough room to install a winch without taking the bar off? (If yes, then I can install the winch before a trip, but take it out so I'm not carting extra weight around town.

                        Cheers EddieF

To fit the winch cradle, you'll need to take the bullbar off. Winch with synthetic rope is about 30kg. Probably not worth worrying about.
